Respire

Hopping on the 2016 trend to resurface our very first family photo. Notably missing is our violinist extraordinaire Eslin, who joined us later on that same year. 2026 marks ten whole years since Gravity and Grace! Time is a cruel joke, but we remain in the fight.

We’re still here. Five years of Black Line. Thanks for listening.

... and that’s a wrap on the respire family 2025 season ...

Somehow, twelve years into this band, this was the year we played more shows than we ever have - 28 in 12 different countries on two continents.

We had a chance to play our first ever shows in the US, and despite many (financial, logistical, political) challenges, we had some truly special shows, and got to return the visit that so many of our American friends have paid us over the years. We wish we could have been to more cities and visited more friends, but things don’t always work out as planned.

It was also magical to return to Europe, which (let’s be honest) is our spiritual home. Reconnecting with friends, family, comrades we haven’t seen in almost a decade reminded us why we keep doing what we do. We’ve got some leftover merch from tour and fests that will likely never be reprinted. Do us (and yourselves) a favour and grab some.

The next chapter is uncertain. We’re older and more grizzled, and have many more obligations than we’ve had in the past. We’re physically far apart, and about to get further. But the fire still burns in us. There’s more left. This isn’t a goobye, it’s a see you later.

(Photo by dear friend and tireless collaborator , thanks for all you do.)

Got some tour and fest leftovers up on Bandcamp, probably the last time a bunch of this stuff is ever made!

Sorry to our American friends, but no US shipping until the tariff mess becomes a little clearer. We still love you, even if we don’t love your criminal and incompetent government.

A few from ZBR back in May, an eternity ago.

✌️to our American friends. Gotta come to Canada (or Europe probably) to see us now. Final US shows are done, shoutout to everyone that made this happen, especially

Next up, New Friends Fest in Toronto on Saturday. Catch us running around making sure the fest doesn’t fall apart.

Today marks one year since we released Hiraeth. An album about displacement, loss, and longing. About carving out identity in the wake of exile. And finding family where blood cannot reach.

This record was—and is—for those leaving home on the hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. For those navigating borders built to exclude them.

In a world quick to punish and slow to care, Hiraeth remains a protest, a reminder that our comrades crossing borders deserve more than survival. They deserve dignity, safety, and a future.

Thank you to everyone who was a part of making this record and to everyone who has shared support, kind words, and their stories with us.

For those of you carrying the weight of the experiences that shaped these songs, we see you and feel you. Keep the light on.

Tour starts tonight! See ya there!
