Railhead Corporation has been awarded a major contract by SCRRA/Metrolink to deploy FRA-compliant 4K locomotive video systems across its fleet. This rollout will help equip up to 121 locomotives and cab cars with advanced onboard recording technology—ensuring full compliance with the Federal Railroad Administration’s Locomotive Image and Audio Recording Rule (49 CFR Part 229) well in advance of the October 2027 federal deadline.

Our LDVR4K platform delivers crash-hardened data protection, secure video management, and enhanced operational oversight to strengthen safety, accountability, and performance across rail operations. We’re proud to support Metrolink’s proactive commitment to safety and regulatory leadership as Southern California prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games.

National Heat Awareness Day 🔥

A reminder to stay hydrated, pace the work, and rely on gear that helps you stay safe and alert.🌡️

On the railroad, long shifts, direct sun, heavy gear, and physically demanding work can lead to heat fatigue — when your body struggles to stay cool and your focus drops. Fatigue can slow reaction times, reduce attention, and increase the risk of accidents on the job.🥱

When focus starts to fade in the heat, gear like the RH-CHG summer gloves and the M100 safety/warning light can help crews stay comfortable, visible, and prepared for the work ahead.

Bad Gear Slows You Down.🔦

Industry studies show poor lighting can cut productivity by up to 20%, and crews are only productive about 60% of the day—with inadequate tools playing a big role.

When you can’t see clearly, work takes longer, mistakes increase, and safety suffers.

Better visibility means faster, safer, more efficient work.

Safety on the Rails: Innovation ⚙️ Keeps Workers Moving🚂

From the first steel rails to today’s high-tech inspection gear, safety has always been the heart of the railroad.
A century ago, crews relied on lanterns, whistles, and keen observation to spot hazards. One missed bolt or slippery tie could mean hours of delays—or worse.

Today, innovation is changing the game. Modern tools like Railhead headlamps, work lights, and insulated gloves don’t just make tasks easier—they reduce errors, prevent injuries, and help crews work faster in any condition. https://hubs.li/Q04gprGx0

Railroads may have changed, but the mission hasn’t: protect every worker, every shift, every mile of track.

⏳ 2027 is closer than it looks.

The FRA is raising the bar on onboard video recording requirements — and railroads that wait will face a costly rush to catch up. In fact, October 12, 2027 is the exact FRA deadline for inward- and outward-facing video recording systems on all passenger train lead locomotives.

Is your railroad ready?

Railhead Video Systems builds solutions that are customizable, scalable, and designed to integrate with your existing equipment. And our software is license-fee free, so there are no ongoing costs.

Whether you're starting from scratch or upgrading what you already have, we'll make sure you're compliant on time and on budget.

National Train Day – May 9th 🚂

Marking the 1869 completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, a milestone that connected the country.

Today, rail workers carry on that legacy—inspecting track, moving freight, and keeping operations safe in all conditions.

From hand lanterns to modern gear, long hours, tough conditions, and the need for reliable visibility remain unchanged.

That’s where dependable lighting like the rechargeable KE-HL1000R comes in—delivering up to 1000 lumens, long runtimes, and a beam that reaches nearly 800 feet. https://hubs.li/Q047Y1tp0

Tools may evolve, but commitment to safety and performance remains.

👷Skilled trades are the backbone of every rail project, and railroad workers are ultimate skilled professionals—combining technical knowledge, precision, and endurance to keep trains moving safely every day.

Long hours and tough conditions demand gear that is reliable too. On National Skilled Trades Day, we honor railroaders skill, dedication, and the tools that help them perform at their best.

This includes pocket-ready safety lights with strong magnets, wide-angle LEDs, and long battery life help railroaders work smarter and stay safer.
