Why choose between a vacation and a race when you can have both? That's exactly why Runner's World recently featured the M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay in its guide to planning the perfect runcation. 👀
From running along the shores of Lake Champlain to exploring Burlington's restaurants, shops, and waterfront after the race to the long holiday weekend, the Vermont City Marathon & Relay offers plenty of reasons to turn miles into a mini vacation. 🌊🍁
We're proud to showcase Vermont to runners from near and far and grateful to everyone who makes race weekend what it is.
Ready to plan your own Vermont runcation? Early bird registration for the 2027 M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon (including the wheelchair race) is available through Sunday, June 7th, with relay registration opening in the Fall. Secure your spot now and start counting down to race weekend. ✨

One of our favorite things about race weekend is seeing runners from near and far come together in Burlington. This year, the M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon drew registrants from 48 states and the District of Columbia (along with international registrants). The only states missing? Alaska and Idaho.
On Global Running Day, we are reminded that running has a way of uniting people together from every corner of the country, and the world.
So we're putting out the challenge now: who's helping us complete the map in 2027? 👀
Where did you travel from to join us this year? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️

Meet Tim Noonan of Montpelier, who is about to run in his 25th M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon.
Tim has been running for nearly 50 years. He ran our very first VCM back in 1989, finishing just a handful of seconds behind eventual race director Joe Connelly, a fact neither of them realized until they pulled out an old Burlington Free Press clipping decades later. He just completed his 100th career marathon last fall in Maine and now, at 70, this will be his first marathon in a new age group.
Ask him why he keeps coming back to Burlington, and the answer is simple: the relay. Tim says: "It's the only marathon I've seen that has a relay that's so prominent. It adds a lot of spirit to the event. The community atmosphere on race day is so wonderful."
Tim also serves as President of Central Vermont Runners, where he directs local races and builds community one event at a time (like their famous Mutt Strut!).
Twenty-five marathons in, still showing up. We're grateful to have you on the course, Tim!
