As noted in the segment, the Clemmons Family Farm was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in August 2025. The nomination form was researched and written by three UVM HP alumni: Britta Tonn, Jenny Fulton, and Matthew Shoen. Great work!

This film provides a rich, thoughtful exploration of Eliot Noyes' influence on design, architecture, and the corporate world. Coining the term, "Good Design is Good Business", Noyes built design programs that essentially transformed some of America's most powerful postwar corporations.

After the film, Devin Colman, Director of the UVM Historic Preservation Program, will moderate a discussion with Frederick Noyes, FAIA, son of Eliot Noyes.

Professor Thomas Visser was on hand at the recent "Church Street Celebration" in St. Albans to co-lead a tour of the historic Franklin County Courthouse. Built in 1873-74 and designed by Burlington architect Edgar C. Ryer, the building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

“I think there is so much that we can learn about places like this,” Thomas Visser, a history professor at the University of Vermont, said. “But also it is, as we can see from the reaction today, it's enriching, it's engaging, it's bringing people together. It brings almost an optimism to be able to relate to the past and at the same time think about the future.”

Vermont’s covered bridges are iconic historic structures that can be found throughout the state. Celebrate their history and preservation during Covered Bridge Week, August 2 – 9, 2025!

Organized by the Vermont Covered Bridge Society, the week includes events at numerous locations as well as a two-day “bridge safari” to fifteen covered bridges in southern VT, western NH, and northern MA.
