For the last several months, I’ve been working on a multi media art piece about mitochondrial DNA. I made a patchwork quilt, sewn from the leftover fabrics of my handmade dresses. One shape stitched into another shape and so on and so forth until all the shapes have come together to form the background. The patchwork has been quilted with cotton batting to the purple blue silk fabric backing. Then red letters were hand drawn, hand cut and appliquéd unto the patchwork. Every part of the process was photographed.
The individual photographs were animated into a short film with original violin musical accompaniment.
One of my photographic prints “Who is Mitochondrial DNA?” was chosen as part of a group show for CYCLES Opening Reception

Photo description:
The smiling artist is holding a large rectangular photographic print of a patchwork quilt. The silk & cotton quilt is created by combining small irregular triangles into overlapping and repeating patterns of mostly blue hues in various floral, corduroy and gingham prints.
All of the fabric patterned triangles repeat themselves in different irregular sizes; including a bright red strawberry on a cobalt blue background, small pink and red flowers on blue calico, light blue checkered gingham, delicate metallic blue flowers and gold butterflies, dark blue and light grey corduroy, white flowers on a teal background, tiny white hearts, and big white daisies with orange centers, also on bright blue backgrounds. Throughout the piece there are zig zags of blue and turquoise ric rac ribbons connecting some of the triangles together.
The artist felt that the textures of the different fabrics combined were a crucial way of understanding the artwork. A fabric sash, made from the same fabrics as the original quilt was added, encircling the lower portion of the frame. This gives the piece added three dimensional qualities.

❤️Happy Valentines Day❤️💕
The dream of Queenies as a performance stage created by musicians, for musicians, is fully realised in this music video. This impromptu, improvisational performance of the classic Animals tune “House of the Rising Sun” is a real gem that I can listen to over and over ❤️🎶☀️
Members of American Bindi, 5 Cent Coffee, the Deadshakers and a couple of our special guests, all came together to create this original unique moment.

Queenies outdoor stage is quite versatile, and sometimes used for practicing cool skateboarding tricks;)
