Chiropractic care is about more than the spine. At Turning Point, we work with both spinal alignment and the fascial tissue that surrounds your muscles and structures — because for pregnant moms especially, both matter.
If you've been feeling tight or restricted and can't quite figure out why, fascia might be part of the conversation. Swipe through to learn what it is and how we address it.

Many people have never heard of fascia. Even fewer know how much it affects how they feel during pregnancy.
Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, organ, and structure in your body. When it's healthy, it's flexible and pliable. When it gets restricted, it's like shrink wrap pulling tight around everything underneath — and during pregnancy, that tension can affect how your body moves, how your baby positions, and how comfortable you feel day to day.
At Turning Point, Dr. Kristen and Dr Katie work with both the spine and the fascia. Chiropractic adjustments help your nervous system function better, and fascial work creates space in the soft tissue so your body can move the way it's designed to.
If you're pregnant and feeling tight, restricted, or just not quite right, that's worth paying attention to.

Dr. Kristen didn't plan on becoming a chiropractor. She was in architecture school when her own unexplained pain sent her looking for answers. After conventional medicine came up empty, a coworker nudged her toward a chiropractor. Within two to three months, she was pain free — and her entire career path changed.
That experience is what drives how she practices today. She knows what it feels like to be told nothing is wrong when something clearly is. She knows what it means to finally find care that actually works.
Over the years, Dr. Kristen has attended more than 250 births, earned her Webster Certification, and built a practice where pregnant moms, babies, and families feel genuinely cared for — not rushed through.
If you've been looking for a chiropractor who will take your body seriously and tailor care to your actual needs, we'd love to meet you.

We check babies at our practice within the first few weeks of life.
Not because something is necessarily wrong, but because birth is a physical event for baby just as much as for mom.
Think about what a baby navigates during labor- the tucking of the chin followed by the rotation through the pelvis and then the extension of the head as they emerge.
These little ones experience compression through the cranium, the cervical spine, and the shoulders all while under the pressure of uterine contractions.
In most cases, the body handles this beautifully, but sometimes, that journey leaves a mark that doesn't resolve on its own.
We see it in babies who:
→ Consistently turn their head to one side
→ Have a strong preference for one breast while nursing
→ Cry or arch when laid flat on their back
→ Seem uncomfortable in certain holds or positions
→ Have an asymmetry in how they hold their body
These aren't behavioral problems, they're physical ones, and they respond beautifully to gentle, specific care.
At Turning Point, infant care consists of light-touch craniosacral and fascial techniques. There is no cracking or forceful manipulation. We work with the baby's nervous system to release the tension patterns that birth left behind.
A baby whose body is balanced from the start has an easier time nursing, sleeping, and settling. And that matters more than we often give it credit for.
If you have a new baby in Burleson or DFW, we'd love to meet them.

The six-week postpartum checkup gets all the attention.
But here's something most new moms don't know: the weeks between birth and that six-week mark are actually when your body needs support the most.
Here's what's happening:
⭐️Relaxin—the hormone that loosened your ligaments throughout pregnancy—is still circulating. Which means your joints are still hypermobile. Still vulnerable to the positions and patterns you're falling into as a new parent (hello, nursing posture and baby-on-hip shifts).
⭐️Your pelvis just did something extraordinary. Even in the most straightforward birth, the sacrum moved. Ligaments stretched. Fascia was compressed and released under enormous pressure. Your body needs help integrating all of that—not just time.
⭐️And if your birth involved a cesarean, forceps, vacuum, or a long pushing stage, there's even more to work through: scar tissue forming, pelvic floor compensation patterns beginning, cranial and cervical tension that didn't fully resolve.
Postpartum chiropractic care at Turning Point addresses:
→ Restoring sacral and pelvic alignment after birth
→ Releasing residual fascial tension from labor and delivery
→ Supporting your body's transition out of the hypermobility phase
→ Addressing posture and biomechanics for the demands of new parenthood
Your baby isn't the only one who needs care after birth.

Round ligament pain. If you've been pregnant, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about.
That sharp, stabbing feeling on one or both sides of your lower belly. It hits when you stand up too fast, roll over in bed, sneeze, or laugh. It takes your breath away for a second and then fades.
Most people are told: it's normal. Just take it easy.
And while round ligament pain is common, that doesn't mean you have to white-knuckle your way through it.
Here's what's actually happening:
The round ligaments run from the top of your uterus down through the inguinal canal. As your uterus grows and shifts, those ligaments stretch—and when they're also holding tension from fascial restriction or pelvic imbalance, they become hypersensitive. Even small movements create that sharp, searing jolt.
What actually helps:
→ Releasing fascial restriction in and around the ligaments so they can stretch without being on high alert
→ Restoring pelvic balance so the uterus isn't being pulled asymmetrically
→ Gentle adjustments to the sacrum and lumbar spine to reduce the load those ligaments are compensating for
This is something we address at almost every prenatal visit—because when the round ligaments are happy, movement feels so much better.
If you're in Burleson or DFW and you're dealing with this, you don't have to just live with it.

We talk a lot about "preparing for birth"—birth plans, hospital bags, nursery setups.
But here's the preparation most people skip:
Preparing the body itself.
Labor is one of the most physically demanding things a human body will ever do. And yet most of us wouldn't run a marathon without months of training—but we'll go into birth without ever asking: is my pelvis actually ready for this?
Here's what body preparation for birth actually looks like:
--Your sacrum needs to be mobile. As your baby descends, your sacrum has to move—moving forward and backward to open the pelvic inlet and outlet at the right moments. If it's stuck, labor gets harder.
--Your ligaments need to be balanced. The uterus is held by a web of ligaments. When they're uneven, the uterus twists—and baby has less room to rotate and descend.
--Your fascia needs to be pliable. Restricted connective tissue limits movement everywhere. In the pelvis, that restriction can prevent the opening your baby needs to come through.
--Your nervous system needs to feel safe. When the body is in balance, it's not in fight-or-flight. And a calm nervous system supports the hormonal cascade that makes labor progress.
This is what we support at every prenatal visit at Turning Point.
Not just pain management—actual preparation.
