We make things. Thingery INC. We make stuff. They all bring a special talent and skill to each and every project.

The “we” of “we make stuff” is constructed of an amalgamation of hand picked individuals who are brimming with talent and passion towards each and every project they take on. Each member of Thingergy brings enough technical and practical experience to the table that, all combined, they could fill at least a bar napkin with information. Not only will every project, big or small, be met head on wi

We got a ton of screen time out of the costume we build for the character “Caska” in the movie “Atlas”. It was a cool one to build and loved the silhouette choice with the big shoulder armor. As always, thanks to costume designer .oh.orlandi and ACD for having us along on such cool builds!

Here’s a rad costume we built for the movie “Atlas”.
Under direction of costume designer .oh.orlandi and ACD , we started by having mock up the armor parts in foam and .arts pattered out the jacket. was a baddass and super easy to work with for the fittings. Once it was all finished we turned over the finished and painted costume, and worked his magic to make it fit in the universe of aging/distressing/breakdown. And the makeups were done by .
Always great to collaborate with such great people!!

One of the first projects we had coming out of the 2020 lockdown was building a cool space chair and computer cabinets for the Amazon show called Solos. Under design and art direction of and . Now hopefully we will be coming out of the 23/24 union shutdowns, we will get to build cool stuff for Will and Glen again!

We’re very excited to be a part of another David Leitch film “Fall Guy”! Just like last time with “Bullet Train” it’s an excellent fun popcorn action film! We got the call from costume designer to help build a helmet and some throwing knives for the props department. We generated a half dozen designs and settled on this one. Though it’s not in the film a ton, we’re still happy to be a part of it!

We had a rad team here at for Rebel Moon. We made tonssss of props for prop master . Most designs were supplied by production as flat 2d images (though we did do some designing), but we did all of the 3D modeling and fabrication in-house. We can’t wait for the next project!

Back in ‘22 we got asked by prop masters Steve Melton and Richie Kremer to build the Iwi staffs for “Godzilla x Kong”. We tried out a few versions that would glow internally, but ultimately got nixed. Because of all the spiked points, we ended up casting them out of a high A durometer urethane rubber from . This helped mitigate the tips breaking or stabbing performers. We’re all big fans of these movies, so it’s great to finally be able to show some of this stuff now that they’re out!

650 individual parts
11,885 hours of printing across 23 machines (including our workhorse large format .platform )
400,096 grams of filament from (supports included)
100,813 meters of filament
That’s about 62.6 miles, which puts us just outside of earth’s atmosphere!

With just 7 days left to go, this first picture is where we were leading up to the install. We had a couple outside 3D print vendors majorly drop the ball, and not finish a bunch of parts and not get our last pieces to us until just a couple days before the statue was due. Good thing our printers were tuned up to find a way to take up the slack and our crew was top notch, we pulled it together!

Excited to see this! We did a ton of work for the props department on this show! High-five to all involved.

Photos from Thingergy's post 06/15/2023

For the head, we printed a copy about 1/4” thinner on the surface and then enlisted our pal to add a layer of clay back onto it and detail it out. Adding this kind of hand-texturing and organic feel really helped with the overall look of the finished statue! We then molded and cast the head, and fitted it onto the body.

Anthony, Brian, Caleb,Matt, and Scarlet did most of the post processing on the 3D parts. They would first remove support material, then sand-blast the parts inside and out, then reinforce the inside of the parts with Epoxy and fiberglass.

Our little contribution to the film “Nope” . We got the call from Cara Brower to help make the alien esophagus that was like 40 feel long during pickups. We took EPS foam and hot-wire cut it to give some surface variation and patched 2 sheets together to make a 16’x 4’ piece. We then coated it with urethane resin to help protect the foam for multiple pulls. Next we used tinted moldstar 20t silicone to paint in colored layers and give some color break-up and veining. It finished up with laminating a piece of stretch-mesh to keep it from ripping. Rinse and repeat a few times. Then we helped prepare it on set, which the art department ended up finding a better way of mounting it. High-five to that whole team! Those were pretty unwieldy slabs of silicone.

Seems like forever ago we were making the masks for “Bullet Train” (Dec 2020). Here is detailing the main red ones, and the army’s of black ones that we built! The masks were designed by and 3D modeled by .3dblah
A lot of the paints we use are PPG eivirobase (EHP).

We don’t normally do replica props for commissions, but when called us to make this iconic helmet for him, we had to say yes!
did all the heavy lifting and figuring it out, and helped out too.
Big thanks to for having such a great resource for what other people have done, there are some great threads there for how other people have built them! We had all of the flat parts cut via , they are awesome, and we have been using them a ton for stuff like this!

08/04/2022

Can’t wait to go check out Bullet Train, and see all the rad things we built for the costumes and props departments!
Thanks to everyone involved, especially the baddass crew here at the shop!!

We had such an awesome team of sewing wizards here at the shop the past couple projects. Leading the team on “Umbrella Academy” was and .
We had some fabrics dye-sub printed, and some embroidery also. All of the costumes were build on body forms that we mulled out here from 3D scans of the performers. They were all about 6’10” tall!
Also on the team in these pics are , , and

Once we had locked in designs, we started doing a paint samples on 3D prints (run by ). Our baddass paint team, led by nailed the styles and used a butt-ton of gold leaf in the process.

More Umbrella Academy baddassness!
We got do design and build the Hotel Oblivion Guardians from the ground up. It was great working in conjunction with costume designer to make sure it echoed his designs and choices for the Hotel Obsidian, and to make sure we delivered the best product for his awesome team to take over once they got to set.
It all started with a ton of designs, and got refined down to these 3, with all the heavy lifting being done by .3dblah !

Just a little look under the hood for how we built Christopher on “Umbrella Academy”.

Thanks a zillion to for including us in this fun project!!

Photos from Thingergy's post 07/19/2022

To start building Christopher, we got the 3D model from the end scene from season 2, and had to add realistic rock textures and break it up for printing. did the modeling, and did the printing on our XXL. Then we molded the 6 sides and vacuum-bagged them out of epoxacoat neutral/epoxamite from .

Photos from Thingergy's post 07/15/2022

We had the pleasure of building Luther’s muscle suits for “Umbrella Academy” for season 2 and 3. Tom came here and got a body scan and then sculpted the muscles, which Chris Alexander molded and ran in foam latex. On season 2 the suits were built by and season 3 by .
Many thanks to for his guidance to make these work for his amazing costume department. And tons of thanks to for bringing us on the show!
