Recombined's lead protagonist (adapted from Karen Sandler's Tankborn novels) is GEN Kayla 6982, played by the remarkable Naïma Hebrail Kidjo.

Naïma Hebrail Kidjo is an actress and writer. She’s been a Paramedic on Chicago Med & Chicago PD for six combined seasons and has acted on theatre stages all across the country. Likewise she’s trained all over: she’s a graduate of Yale University and the School at Steppenwolf in Chicago, took courses at the Cours Florent in Paris and RADA in London. As you can tell she loves to travel–and in Recombined she’s travelled to another planet entirely.

"I’m a serious sci-fi lover so being Kayla in Recombined was a dream come true. And the short’s messages of finding humanity in everyone and of necessary resistance truly resonates with me. And with the moment we’re in! I can’t wait to share this world with you all!"

Meet Luis - he was the driving force behind helping us produce Recombined.

We invite you to get to know Luis Ramón Quintero, who was the driving force that helped Regina Ainsworth produce Recombined.

Luis is currently a 2020 NHMC writers fellow, sponsored by NBC and ABC. His latest short film “Mirage” has been featured on Telemundo, NBC, Estrella TV, and KPFK. In 2016, his short film "Guiltless" was nominated for an Imagen Award in the Best Theatrical Short category by Norman Lear's Imagen Foundation. In 2014, Quintero was an NBC Universal Pictures Emerging Writers Fellowship finalist.

"Working alongside so many talented people for a common goal is why I choose this profession. Helping produce Regina's vision has been exciting, her leadership has brought Karen's Tankborn series to life. We can't wait for you all to see the film."

Really exciting news about our latest short film Recombined, which is a short proof of concept to help flip Karen Sandler's Tankborn Trilogy YA Sci-Fi novels to Series.

Our director Regina Ainsworth was interviewed Friday for the Best of VFX panel which will drop soon at HollyShorts Film Festival - the entire international matrix is full of talent, including VFX artists that have worked with Pixar and Dreamworks, and projects that include mega branded gaming properties. We are truly grateful to all the cast and crew of Recombined, with special recognition of our Post Production rock stars (who you really should know) Vincent Griffith our Co-Producer and VFX Artist, Mateo Laboriel our Composer and Sound Designer, and Scott Ainsworth .ainsworth1 who handled all the edits, and lots of day to day decisions as an Executive Producer. We are beyond excited to have been included in the mix and will have more details on how to watch shortly. You won’t want to miss it!

SO excited as we approach HollyShorts Film Festival for Recombined’s premiere, to share the incredible cast and crew that made this collaborative dream happen. Please meet stellar DGA 2nd Assistant Director Pam Paterra who shared her experience working on the film:

“I really enjoyed my time on set for "Recombined." The crew was really good. All professionals, all there to support Regina, no complaints. Regina treated us well. She was very good to the cast and crew. I always felt that she was in control of the process, she knew what she wanted, and she knew how to make it happen. I was very fortunate to have this opportunity, to watch an accomplished director, a true leader, and an amazing person do her thing. I'm happy that I had a small part in helping you make this a reality.”
