Today we celebrate the feast day of St Paulinus of Nola, a Roman nobleman who abandoned wealth, status, and political ambition to follow Christ.

Ordained a priest and later elected Bishop of Nola, he became renowned for his care of the poor, hospitality to pilgrims, and deep devotion to the martyrs, especially St Felix of Nola.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the enduring dignity, freedom, and equality of every person.

Juneteenth calls us to recommit to the dignity of every human person. We celebrate the enduring hope of freedom and join in prayer for healing, unity, and peace. We ask Christ to guide us in recognizing His presence in one another, and to root our communities in love, reconciliation, and respect.

Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Ephrem the Syrian, the 4th-century deacon and theologian from Syria known for his profound writings, especially his hymns, which enriched the liturgical and devotional life of the early Church. Called the “Harp of the Holy Spirit,” he used poetry and song to combat heresies and uplift the faithful in truth and beauty.
