Welcome to a weekly series where I will be sharing acupressure points for daily living. Today we are talking about LI 4 (He Gu). This point is indicated for pain anywhere in the body yet particularly for the head, face, and mouth. Also used for its ability to help promote labor this point is contraindicated during pregnancy before 37 weeks gestation. I like to employ this point for times of stress or when you are feeling “stuck” in your body as it is supportive of relaxation and a strong mover of qi (life force energy). For all the reason listed above I often teach this point to pregnant Mommas to add to their labor tool kit. Often tender upon palpitation it responds well to acupressure.
