As National Child Abuse Prevention month comes to an end, I had to take a moment to show my appreciation for two of the best prosecutors of these heinous crimes against children 💙🤍 To be recognized alongside the best is one amazing way to close out a chapter I once loved with my whole heart for two decades 🦋📖

Huge shout out to these amazing ladies from the Center For Victims 👏 These women are literal angels on earth & made my job as a detective so much easier with their compassion, patience, & support to victims 😇 I am still over the moon to be chosen as the Legal Advocate’s Choice Award in law enforcement for the Center For Victims 50th Anniversary 🏆 Love all of you ladies 💙 And if you want to support the Center for Victims, you can donate on their website at centerforvictims.org. I can’t tell you how much a little fidget toy, can of Play Doh or coloring book helps with calming a child victim prior to having to talk about one of the most traumatic experiences of their life. Thank you to all who work in child & adult advocacy 🙏 I’ve seen the selfless magical work that these individuals do on a daily basis & it’s life changing for not only the victims, but for entire families. They give victims the extra courage to come forward & stick with the extremely difficult court process. They also help give victims some of their confidence back & power that was taken from them to help move forward 💪 I hope that you or some you love never needs the Center For Victims, but if you do, I promise you that you are in good hands 🌟

In a world that rewards confident men & questions confident women, BE HER ANYWAYS 💁🏼‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️🌟There is no other confident woman that I could be more proud to stand alongside last night to be recognized for our longtime work in child abuse/sex assault by the Center For Victims. Her, as the prosecutor awardee & me as the law enforcement awardee. We met when we were both new to investigations two decades ago. We grew together, learned from one another & became one heck of a team, often pulling all nighters prepping for trials. My advice to any other woman who wants to excel in their field would be to get yourself in rooms with other like minded women who are often labeled in our society as “difficult” or “too much.” I assure you that these are women that have respect for themselves, value work ethic, have boundaries, & are high performers. We both left our respective roles in child abuse/sex assault two years ago, moving into new positions, which makes us both even more honored to be selected for such a prestigious award. Strong women don’t compete, they create legacies… proud to say that we did just that 🤩

Tonight I was beyond honored to receive the “Legal Advocates Choice Award” for the Center For Victims 50 Year Anniversary, for my longtime work as a child abuse/sex assault detective🏆 The theme for the gala was “Lighting Candles in the Darkness “🕯️ To be that light for so many victims & their families in their darkest moments will always be my life’s greatest achievement 🫶🏻 Thank you Center For Victims 🙏 I am so grateful & still in shock to receive such a distinguished award 💙
