A moment frozen in time. This photograph was taken on June 18, 1929, just days before Buffalo Central Terminal welcomed its first passengers on June 22.

The Passenger Concourse was brand new. The terrazzo floors gleamed. The future felt limitless.

Nearly 100 years later, that future is still being written.

As rehabilitation work continues, we're reminded that the Central Terminal has always been a gateway to possibility—connecting people, creating opportunity, and bringing Buffalo together.

The builders of 1929 imagined a remarkable space that would serve generations. Today, we're carrying that vision forward and preparing this living landmark for its next chapter.

Two railroad giants in one frame. 🚂

Yesterday, Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014 arrived in Buffalo, with the Buffalo Central Terminal's iconic tower visible in the distance as it made its way through the city. While the locomotive did not travel past the Central Terminal itself, it's still remarkable to see these two pieces of railroad history together.

The Big Boy is still on display in Buffalo and available for public viewing until 2:30 p.m. today. View the schedule and visitor information here:

The Real Kid Capri is widely known for being a Hip Hop Pioneer, Master Crowd-Controller,Cultural icon and highly respected by multiple generations. One whose larger than life voice transformed the DJ from someone behind the turntables into the star of the show. The Legendary DJ will take stage for the Central Terminal’s Circle Thursday Summer Block Party & Concert Series.

We know A LOT of you are curious about the Big Boy 4014 visit to Buffalo! 🚂

While the world's largest operating steam locomotive will NOT be passing the Buffalo Central Terminal during its visit, you can still join in the excitement.

Big Boy 4014 will be on display in Buffalo on Wednesday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Public viewing is available via free shuttle buses departing from the north side of Walden Galleria near Primark. Please note that there is no public parking or pedestrian access at the display site.
