Meet Genga Ponnampalam, the founder of and one of Buffalo's most inspiring food stories.
Genga left Sri Lanka in 1990 for a career in computer programming, but always knew he would eventually follow his father's footsteps as a farmer and business owner. That moment came in 2001 when a layoff became the push he needed. Rather than compete for scarce opportunities, he combined his business skills with his passion for healthy, wholesome food and took a risk. Buffalo has never been the same since.
For over 20 years, Go Veggies has been serving Western New York with 100% plant-based burgers, curries, wraps, soups, and sides — all made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and rooted in the rich flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine. Every recipe is crafted with real intention, guided by the Ayurvedic principle of food as medicine, and made with the kind of care that only comes from a family business built on love and purpose.
