Last month, the junior class from the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart in Eggertsville organized their own thrift store, stocked with student donations, as part of their Catholic Social Teachings class. Proceeds from the sale were donated to Stitch Buffalo, a local nonprofit that advances social justice for refugee women in Buffalo.

On Thursday, June 18, Senator Jeremy Zellner and Assemblymember Karen McMahon joined Amherst Town Supervisor Shawn Lavin and town board members John Davis and Michael Szukala at Amherst Town Hall to announce the allocation of $6.25 million in state funding for Amherst.

The church was started in 1826 as a gathering of 18 members, and has been a steady presence in the Village of Williamsville ever since. The church is celebrating its “heritage of faith” and looking forward to the next generation. There will be a weekend of festivities to commemorate this occasion during the Bicentennial Weekend, Aug. 13-16.
