The BURA has a great opportunity for property owners! Funding is available for homeowners who are interested in constructing an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on their property to provide long-term housing for a family or community member.

The city and state are working with BURA to help property owners get vacant units back online and address the housing shortage in our community.
If you're a small property owner with vacant, unmarketable apartment units, consider applying for the Vacant Rental Program.

Last Friday, our Senior Project Manager Ron Dixon led a partnership between Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency (BURA), the City of Buffalo Division of Citizen Services, Buffalo Police Department, Buffalo Public Schools, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to execute a successful Faith & Blue event at East High School! 🏫
East High’s Pathways Program was selected for its pathways program for students to pursue careers in law enforcement and forensic science. 🎓🔬
The event kicked off at 11 AM, where 60 students learned about the National Faith & Blue initiative and participated in 5 interactive stations:
💻 FBI Cybersecurity
🔬 FBI Forensic STEM
💪 PAL Obstacle Course
🚓 Buffalo Police SWAT
🐾 Buffalo Police K-9 Unit
After the activities, students enjoyed pizza 🍕 while officers served and interacted with them.
The day concluded with an insightful panel discussion hosted by:

Carrie Owens (East High Police Pathway Instructor).
The panel featured:

BURA commends the hard work of Project Manager Lindsay Frazier who led the City of Buffalo’s Stand-Up Buffalo Eviction Prevention program.
The program, which provided emergency assistance to renters impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, has assisted 1,034 households in crisis. Overall, Stand-Up Buffalo provided $3.5 Million in rental assistance. The program has ended, however BURA will continue to provide guidance to renters.
