Making our schools safer. Bringing partners together. Helping prevent violence before it happens.

Throughout the month, Buffalo has been celebrating Gary Rose, our 2025 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award recipient, and the impact he’s made across the Greater Rochester community.

Gary brings schools, law enforcement, and community partners together through the Monroe County School Safety Consortium and volunteers with the Rochester Threat Advisory Committee to help prevent targeted violence.

We’re proud to call Gary a trusted partner- and even prouder to recognize his commitment to keeping our communities safe.

Congratulations, Gary! 👏

From Corning to Rochester to Buffalo, Buffalo has been on the road bringing three Safety at Houses of Worship presentations to communities across our territory.

These events brought together multi-faith audiences for important conversations about preventing targeted violence in houses of worship. Audiences heard from local law enforcement partners, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and FBI personnel.

Keeping our houses of worship safe takes proactive partnerships, preparedness, education, and open communication throughout the year. FBI Buffalo is proud to work alongside our faith-based communities and partners to help create safer spaces where people can gather, worship, and connect. Events like these are just some of the ways the FBI fulfills our mission of protecting the American people every day.

Today, FBI Buffalo gathered to remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the first responders who risked- and gave- their lives to help others.

9/11 changed the FBI and our work here in Western New York. In the months that followed, FBI Buffalo investigated the Lackawanna Six, six local men who had traveled to an al-Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan before the attacks.

Twenty-five years later, our mission remains clear: protect the American people while honoring the lives, courage, and sacrifice we can never forget.

We will always remember.

September 11, 2001, changed our nation and forever.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and the courage shown by first responders and Americans across the country in the days that followed.

Twenty-five years later, the remains committed to protecting the American people.

We will .

This has been making monumental changes across the board to modernize and optimize the Bureau and continue our mission of protecting the American people, like revamping our special agent application process to cut down on bureaucracy.
We have been able to shrink the pipeline by 100 days without reducing our standards to get high-quality personnel onboard faster to continue protecting communities across the country.

This FBI is crushing narcotics networks and dismantling criminal enterprises across the country. As part of Summer Heat 2.0, our teams have seized nearly 10,000 kg of narcotics and 3,116 weapons, and made 5,097 arrests, and we’re not slowing down. On this International Overdose Awareness Day, we reaffirm our commitment to combat drug trafficking organizations and crush violent crime to restore safety in our communities.

We made historic, enterprise-wide changes to deliver these results. That’s the mission of this FBI.
