We had a great time this weekend at AI Tech Jam! 🎉
Students from several district schools jumped into teams at the University at Buffalo School of Management, The State University of New York, rolled up their sleeves, and spent the weekend exploring what AI can do. With support from UB student mentors and after 9 million tokens used and a ton of vibe coding, these high schoolers built some incredible products.
And it wasn't just the students. Teachers got in on it too, digging into AI literacy and classroom applications, and leaving with ideas they can use right away.
Our work offers a glimpse into Buffalo's future, and with students like this it's certainly bright!

What does an innovation economy look like when it works for everyone?
In Buffalo, we're finding out. 43North has established WNY as a destination for world-class startups, but that's only part of the story.
The soon-to-open Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship is expanding access to the innovation economy for people who don't have a four-year degree, creating new on-ramps into tech, entrepreneurship, and the jobs of tomorrow.

At TechBuffalo, we’re building an operating system for a new economy in Buffalo, led by a stack of talent programs that rival the best practices across the U.S.
This model aligns education, employer demand, and talent support from day one, creating a more direct path from training to employment.
We appreciate the pioneers such as Odoo and Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship who are leading with a belief in better systems. And we look forward to stacking additional wins from this momentum.

“In my mind, the possibility of that was so compelling,” Botteron said. “I need to be down here so I can feel that shift.”
Downtown Buffalo is changing, and people are choosing to be part of it.
At TechBuffalo, we’re focused on making sure that shift translates into opportunity, connection, and long-term talent growth.
Downtown's population is up 30% in 5 years. Here's the next challenge. On a sunny Saturday afternoon in early April, a young man rollerblades up the middle of Swan Street near Sahlen Field. Only a handful of people can be seen walking around a few blocks of Main Street despite residences nearby like Seneca One and the Glenny.

Companies expand where the talent is.
And talent chooses places with energy, opportunity, and density.
That’s why downtown Buffalo’s growth matters, and why TechBuffalo is focused on building the pipeline that powers it.
Downtown's population is up 30% in 5 years, but one thing remains elusive - Buffalo Business First More than 5,800 residents live in the two ZIP codes that largely make up the Central Business District. Most days, however, it doesn’t feel like an area that’s grown dramatically over the last five years.
