Sharing a little food for thought that I found in the kids garden.

Had the privilege to be apart of a neat project for a private school in central Austin. This trellis will support the fruits and vegetables the kids will be growing. However, this will not just serve as a trellis, but also as a tunnel for the kids to go through as their chicken coop be built right in front of it.

The weather is cold, and it’s only going to get colder. Next week we could see multiple days of sub freezing temperatures and this sis devastating to your plumbing. Here is a few tips to keep your home and valuables from being damaged.

1. Wrap and cover any pipes and faucets that are exposed to the elements. You can also drip them, but with possible sub teens, it may still freeze.

2. The freezing temperatures is not when you will notice a problem. It’s after it warms up. This may not be until next weekend. When that time comes, keep an eye out and listen for running water.

3 if you do have a leak in a wall or somewhere you can’t isolate, turn the water to your home off IMMEDIATELY! The faster you stop the leak, the less damage. If you don’t know how or can’t, call 311, your city department, or a plumber.

4 Call your insurance, let them know as fast as possible. They are going to be busy, so the faster you get them out, the faster you can get funding.

5 If you find yourself in this situation, give us a call. We will open up what we need to in order to start the drying process as fast as possible. Once that’s complete, we can put your home back together as timely as possible.

The biggest thing to remember, prevention is everything. Do it now! Don’t forget your Pets and plants as well! Stay warm and stay safe.
