A few athletes. One field. A storm moving closer by the minute.
For the Hays Outlaws Youth Football & Cheer Media Day, we had a smaller group step in front of the camera—but that didn’t mean scaling back the experience.
Lights up. Smoke rolling. Athletes moving. Ideas changing on the fly. And all night, one eye on the sky.
That’s the part you don’t always see in the finished photos.
Media Day isn’t about standing on a mark, taking three pictures, and moving to the next athlete. It’s about creating an environment where every athlete who steps in front of my camera gets the opportunity to show some personality and feel like the star of the shoot.
Small turnout. Big energy.
And we got it done before the storm got us.

SATURDAY MORNINGS START HERE. 🏈
Before the Friday night lights. Before varsity jerseys. Before packed stadiums.
There are mornings like this.
The Buda Jr. Jaguars 7U took the field against the Westlake Chaps for an early morning matchup filled with tackles, runs, coaching, teammates and plenty of lessons along the way.
The scoreboard didn’t fall the Jr. Jags’ way this morning — but at this age, every snap is an opportunity to learn.
Learning where to line up.
Learning how to block.
Learning how to tackle.
Learning how to trust the kid standing next to you.
And most importantly — learning to love the game.
There were still plenty of smiles when it was over.

SAME ROOTS. DIFFERENT SIDELINES.
This one was bigger than a Friday night.
Johnson and Hays opened district play with two programs separated by only a few miles — and a lot of familiar faces across the line of scrimmage.
Some of these athletes grew up playing youth football together. Some grew up competing against each other. Years later, they met again under the Friday night lights — this time representing Johnson and Hays.
Hays entered the matchup undefeated in its first season of 6A competition. Johnson came in looking to change the direction of its season.
The Jaguars didn’t get the result they wanted, but nights like this are about more than the final score.
The band. The student sections. The sidelines. The collisions. The familiar faces wearing different colors.
A new chapter in a local matchup — and the beginning of district play.

FROM DAYLIGHT TO THE FINAL WHISTLE.
Johnson JV Black went to work against Alamo Heights—and walked away with the win.
The details tell the story: pregame focus, battles in the trenches, sideline energy, stadium lights and four quarters of Jaguars football.

The storm changed the plan. It didn’t change the result.
Drip Select Softball 12U Media Day came with a little extra adversity.
A storm rolled through and delayed our start, and when it finally passed, the strong winds stuck around—meaning the smoke and haze we normally use to build some of our signature looks had to stay packed away.
So we adjusted.
Different lighting. Different concepts. Same goal: create bold images that give these athletes something that feels like them.
And honestly, sometimes having to work around the conditions pushes you to create something you might not have planned in the first place.

3–0. And they didn’t give up a point.
Goodnight came into the night undefeated and made sure it stayed that way.
The Rattlers’ 7th Grade A-Team controlled the matchup against McCormick from start to finish—big plays through the air, physical football on the ground, and a defense that kept the Tigers off the board.
FINAL // GOODNIGHT 34 — McCORMICK 0
A 2–0 start becomes 3–0 with a shutout.

BAND SENIORS DESERVE THE SPOTLIGHT TOO.
There’s athleticism here. Precision. Repetition. Long rehearsals. Performances under pressure. And countless hours spent getting better at their craft.
The Hays Hawk Band Seniors gave me the opportunity to approach their senior portraits the same way I approach the athletes who step in front of my camera — bold, cinematic, and built around who they are.
