June 15 has been proclaimed 𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, a reminder that financial exploitation and scams targeting older adults remain a serious issue in communities across Arkansas and the country.

At 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸, one way we help customers add an extra layer of protection is through our 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.

A Trusted Contact is someone you choose whom the bank may reach out to if we notice unusual activity or have concerns about your financial safety — for example, a suspicious withdrawal, signs of a possible scam, or a situation where something just doesn’t seem right.

Adding a Trusted Contact does not automatically give that person access to your account or the ability to make transactions. It simply gives our team another way to help protect you when timing matters.

This service is available to customers of any age, because fraud can target anyone.

That urgent text or email? It might not be what it seems. 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 send fake texts or emails to try to get your personal information — things like your password or Social Security number — so they can gain access to your accounts or sell your information.

You may think Gateway Bank is new to the community banking scene, but our roots go back more than 𝟵𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀!

Our story actually began on March 7, 1932, with a bank reorganization that resulted in the creation and chartering of the Bank of Rison. Later that same year, a major fire swept through downtown Rison, destroying much of the block near Second and Main Street.

After temporarily operating out of the nearby Calaway Building, the Bank of Rison purchased the former Farmers & Merchants Bank building at Second and Main — a location that would serve as home for generations.

In 2015, the bank was rechristened as 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 and moved across Second Street into the first new building in downtown Rison in more than 20 years. Since then, Gateway has continued to grow, opening branches in both Benton and Bryant.
