Well, the results are in!!

Wayfarers places 9th out of 27 quartets!!

As some of you may remember, last year in NYC, we placed 7th out of 24 quartets. While we would have loved to move up in the ranking, here are some pretty interesting facts.

First, our average score of 73.3 was exactly what we got last year. In fact, if you look at the raw score totals, we scored 1320 points compared to last year at 1319!! At least we're consistent!!

6th place had a 74.1 with 1333 points, and 10th place had a 73.1 with 1316 points. So in reality, any of those 5 quartets could have probably placed 6th or 10th, on any given day. That grouping was just very close.

Also interesting, we sang 2nd to last, the 26th quartet to cross the stage. The 25th quartet placed 2nd and the 27th quartet ended up placing 1st and winning the competition. So there was nowhere to hide for Wayfarers!! We were sandwiched between 2 very good quartets.

First place: 12th Street Rag (1433 points, 79.6 avg.)
Second place: Rhapsody (1428 points, 79.3 avg)
Third place: Vintage Blend (1418 points, 78.8 avg)
Fourth place: cityScape (1396 points, 77.6 avg)
Fifth place: Private Reserve (1377 points, 76.5 avg)..
Ninth place: Wayfarers (1320 points, 73.3 avg)

For perspective, 20th place scored 69.1, and last place scored 57.2.

While it's nice to win and/or place higher, we had loads of fun with our friends and fellow singers. And congratulations to ALL the competitors. It was a fun weekend!!

San Antonio, Here we Come!!

Wayfarers is competing this Saturday in the Seniors International Quartet Competition of the Barbershop Harmony Society. This will be the 2nd time we've competed. Last year, we placed 7th out of 24 quartets. This year we're hoping to equal that placement, and perhaps even move up a notch or two. Either way, we'll have great fun singing songs we love to sing!!
