Our traditional gardening zone (things are changing) is 8b - 9a.

We'll be prepping our community fall garden and sowing seeds over the next few weeks. All thanks to seeds donated by a number of Texas farms and nurseries, including Burpee Gardening!

Stay tuned for dates on the community gardening events. Just another chance to turn strangers into neighbors.

Rage & Revelry community night is back at The 101 this Tuesday (8/11)! Starts around 7PM but goes for a few hours so come whenever.

This month, we are playing Crabs Adjust Humidity (bootleg Cards Against Humanity expansions) and a bunch of Jackbox Games. Snacks are on the house, and prizes will likely be provided by local small businesses.

Invite your friends or come by yourself. We will find a team for you either way.
That's what Rage & Revelry is all about. Come as strangers, leave as neighbors.

You never know what life is going to throw at you.

Sometimes it’s unexpected bills, a flat tire, or... in the case of our co-founder Cameron Nicole Gallucci, chickens taking up residency in her bedroom for the last couple of months. 🐔 (Yes, you read that right!)

After the great poultry eviction, Nicole was in desperate need of a new mattress. When she reached out to Sweet Oak Collaborative, Inc. for help, they graciously helped refer her to the incredible folks at St. Vincent DePaul Furniture Ministry BCS, who didn't hesitate. They stepped right up and blessed her with a new mattress so she could finally get some comfortable, chicken-free sleep.

Here at Common Ground, our whole mission as a community garden is about planting seeds of connection, sharing resources, and helping each other grow. Even though we aren't officially breaking ground on the garden until this Fall, we believe that nurturing our community happens year-round, and we want to thank St. Vincent de Paul for embodying that spirit perfectly.

We wanted to take a quick moment to shine a massive spotlight on the amazing work they do for the Brazos Valley community.

Beyond their larger acts of service, they also maintain a permanent Blessing Box right outside their front door.

🤲 How does it work? If you need something, take something. If you have a little extra this week, consider dropping a non-perishable item off.

We are sharing this because we want to make sure everyone in our area knows this resource exists. We’d love it if you could give this a share so it reaches the screens of the folks who might need it most right now.

Huge shout-out to the Brazos Valley Alliance for hosting such an important town hall on property taxes this week! The cost of living in our area is a heavy weight right now. Whether you're a homeowner shocked by your tax bill, or one of the many local renters seeing those costs passed down through climbing rent, things are undeniably tough.

At Common Ground, we believe that when the squeeze is on, the best thing we can do is turn toward each other. Policy changes are crucial, but real resilience starts with community-building. Let’s keep talking, checking in on our neighbors, and organizing our collective voices. We're all in the same boat, and rowing together is how we move forward.

Ringer Library host to property tax town hall Property taxes were the topic of discussion this morning at a community town hall, as residents gathered to have their questions answered about the numerous financial aspects of homeownership.

In less than a year, the Hill Country has suffered the devastation of another massive flood. Our hearts are with all of the residents of the region.

This is why we want to work toward more sustainable means of living- gardening, resources, consumption, and food production. From east to west, Texas is experiencing these tragedies too often. Together, we can slow it down.

Severe flash flooding has hit parts of the Hill Country along the Guadalupe and Pedernales rivers, prompting the National Weather Service to issue multiple flash flood emergencies. The NWS reserves this type of warning for “exceedingly rare,” life-threatening flood situations. The flooding comes just a little over a year after the July 4 weekend floods that killed more than 130 people across the Hill Country. Well, our second Rage & Revelry community night at The 101 is on the books, and what an amazing time it was! A huge thank you to everyone who came out!

Here are a few random shots from the night. Nicole and I are constantly having to remind ourselves to actually pull out our phones and take pictures or videos at these events. We're so much more used to rolling up our sleeves and doing the hands-on work that remembering to play "social media manager" is definitely still a work in progress for us! 😅

But even without a lot of footage, the night was a massive success. Bad Movie Bingo and What The Dub were an absolute blast, and it was wonderful getting to share some of our latest updates and efforts for Common Ground in such a fun, casual setting.

Especially in turbulent times like these, just getting out, connecting, and building genuine community feels more important than ever. Thank you for showing up and sharing that space with us.
