21 of our 100 classics is: The Godfather. It’s named after the 1972 film, The Godfather and features blended Scotch whiskey, amaretto and orange bitters.

The 19th of our 100 classic cocktails is: The Rusty Nail. It originated in 1937 in New York City at the British Industries Fair, but became popular in the 1960s when it was associated with The Rat Pack as one of their go-to drinks.
Scotch and Drambuie.

The 19th cocktail of our 100 classics is: The John Wayne. Thought to be the Duke himself’s favorite cocktail, this drink is bourbon, amaretto, angostura bitters, and orange juice.

The number 18 cocktail of our 100 classics is: The Millionaire. There are many cocktails with the same name with very different recipes, but the recipe we use was first published in 1930 in Sovoy’s Cocktail Book.
Bourbon, triple sec, grenadine, lemon juice, grenadine, and egg white with grated nutmeg on top.

The 17th cocktail of our 100 classics is: The Whiskey Smash. Earliest mentions of the Whiskey Smash are from the 1840s though it was published with its official recipe in 1862.
Bourbon, sugar, mint, lemon juice.

Our 16th cocktail of our 100 classics is: The New York Sour. Originally called the Continental Sour, it was created in the 1880s in Chicago, ironically, but became famous when it was published in Mr. Boston’s Bartending Book in 1934.
Bourbon, simple syrup, lemon juice, orange juice, egg white, and a red wine float.

Number 15 of 100 classic cocktails is: The Paper Plane. Originally created in 2008 by Sam Ross, at the bar Violet Hour in Chicago, it’s named after the M.I.A. song “Paper Planes”.
Bourbon, Aperol, Amaro, and Lemon Juice.

The number 14 cocktail on our list of 100 is: The Mint Julep. This drink goes back hundreds of years and was originally drank as a stomach remedy. It was also drank as a preventative medicine during the American Civil War, but became popular when introduced at The Kentucky Derby.
Bourbon, mint, sugar, and crushed ice.

Number 13 of our 100 classic cocktails is: The Hot Toddy. Known mostly as a remedy for sore throats, it’s a concoction of bourbon, honey, lemon juice, and hot water.
