We’re proud to have members of our department attending the IGNITE Women’s Conference hosted by Henry County. This event brings together women across the fire service to encourage leadership, mentorship, and professional growth while strengthening the future of the profession.

Quick actions and awareness made a real difference this Memorial Day weekend.

On Saturday, young Bentley Gearhart noticed smoke coming from a neighbor’s camper while playing outside. He immediately alerted his parents, who called 911 while his father began working to keep the fire under control until crews arrived.

The RV was parked less than 10 feet from a home, creating a serious risk for rapid fire spread. Thanks to Bentley’s quick thinking and the fast response from firefighters, the incident was contained before it could become a larger structure fire.

Great job by Bentley for speaking up quickly, and excellent work by responding crews for protecting life and property.

In 2025, Glynn County Fire Rescue responded to 19,256 incidents.
More than 75% of those calls were EMS or rescue-related.

While fire suppression remains a critical part of our mission, emergency medical response is what our personnel do most often—day and night, across Glynn County.

During National EMS Week, we recognize the Paramedics, AEMTs, and EMTs who provide care in difficult circumstances and often on someone’s worst day.

Their work matters, even when it happens quietly and without recognition.

Grilling season is here, and a few simple precautions can help prevent a fire.

Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, fences, garages, and other structures. Never grill indoors or under overhangs, and always keep a close eye on open flames.

Before firing up the grill:
• Check propane tanks and hoses for leaks
• Keep anything combustible away from the grill
• Have a fire extinguisher nearby
• Never leave a grill unattended

GCFR’s brand new Pierce pumper was officially pushed into service today during a small ceremony at Fire Station 3 in Sterling.

Fire Chief Vincent DiCristofalo spoke about the history of the “push-in” tradition, which dates back to the days when fire pumps were pulled by horses. After returning from a fire, firefighters would detach the apparatus from the horses and physically push it back into the station. Today, departments continue the tradition as a way to honor the history and heritage of the fire service.

This new pumper will serve the Sterling fire district until Station 9 opens at the corner of Chapel Crossing Road and Highway 17 early next year. When the new station is opened, the engine will move to that location, where it will be equipped with equipment for technical rescues.

Glynn County Fire Rescue has lifted the temporary burn ban effective today, May 12, 2026.

With improving weather conditions and the Governor's termination of the statewide ban, the temporary restrictions on outdoor burning and the use of personal fireworks in unincorporated Glynn County are no longer in effect.

Outdoor burning now returns to normal guidelines under local ordinances and Georgia Forestry Commission and EPD regulations.

Please help Glynn County Fire Rescue keep our community safe by following the open burning rules:

Open burning is restricted to natural vegetation/yard waste only

Burning can be conducted from sunrise to dusk. At dusk, the fire must be completely extinguished - No smoldering piles

Burning must be 25 feet from any structure, fence, or wood line

All fires must be attended by an adult

A garden hose must be attached to a water supply and near the fire area for extinguishment
