The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. Here’s a recap of our LEBEC team’s recent travels across Europe from the Cannes Film Festival to meetings in Geneva, Paris, Versailles, and Barcelona. Here’s to moving more capital where it’s needed! 🌎✨ Grateful to be on this journey with these phenomenal humans: LaShee Thomas

Navigating capital is one of the biggest hurdles for founders. Today, almost every article we read is focused on how much money is raised and who is the wealthiest.

Very rarely do we focus on what is the purpose of all this capital and how we can deploy it to deliver meaningful progress for everyone.

Almost every narrative separates profit from purpose.

While that perspective has an audience, my experience shows something different.

You don’t have to buy into an extractive capital ecosystem or diminish human dignity to succeed.

Regenerative economy business models and innovations are thriving everywhere and showing a different way forward. The brilliant documentary gives great examples of what’s at stake and how we can do things differently.

The founders who persevere, realize their vision, and actually find joy in entrepreneurship are always led by purpose and responding to an actual need—solving for something bigger than themselves.

We still face a $5T annual financing gap for real, systemic solutions that will build a future we can all live in. That means shifting the conversation from individual wealth to how we deploy capital to actually scale these solutions—we all need clean air, water, and food.

Not even AI can scale or succeed without dramatic improvements in how we take care of our water resources and accelerate the availability of clean energy.

I recently spoke with Gabriel Borden at Authority Magazine about my journey and the tenacity and financial rigor it takes to push a vision forward, and who my heroes and sheroes are. 🌎✨

Grateful for the space to highlight this issue. You can read the full interview at the link in bio. 🌍💡

Paris has always felt like coming home. There’s something so special about returning to your hometown to talk about the future of capital and our 🌎. ✨

The Royal Versailles Ball celebrates soft power and the long arc of the France-Britain relationship. This year, it brought together a new generation of investors, fund managers, entrepreneurs, and leaders across business, tech, media, and politics who are accelerating their investments in solutions.

What struck me most wasn’t any single discussion; it was the through-line across all of them. Whether we were talking about geothermal and renewable energy, water infrastructure, waste management, economic mobility, and regenerative agriculture solutions; or the future of finance, media & entertainment, and tech & AI; every conversation returned to the same conviction: resilient economies, thriving communities, and a healthy planet aren’t trade-offs. They’re deeply intertwined. We need to break the silos, redefine risk, and invest in ways that are really building that interconnected future.

We also talked honestly about what it takes to get there — increasing affordability and accessibility, building real human connection across differences, and holding steady through constant change and uncertainty. That groundedness, alongside the energy and ingenuity in the room, was so inspiring.

Reminiscing on starting my career in Paris 20+ years ago in documentary films and at The World Bank, I’m so thankful for the serendipitous and how my journey has brought all of these threads together (creativity, finance, and entrepreneurship). ✨.

A très bientôt Paris. Merci pour une merveilleuse semaine avec un grand soleil ☀️.

Grateful to my friends Antonia Teixeira and Joe Flippin who made all of this possible.

Happy Mother’s Day to the most important woman in our lives. you are the moon, the sun, and the light that makes everything work. From being a business entrepreneur, to driving us to every after school activity while growing up in South Korea and China,to making Nutella crepes every morning (clearly you spoiled us 😂), to being present at every school play and turning point in our lives, I can’t imagine this world without you. Love you to the moon and back 🌎. Some of my favorite moments include you telling me that my favorite singer & performer (Tina Turner) also wore braces to help@me get over my fear of the dentist at 10 😂, helping me to not give up on dance & training classes in Brazil while applying for business school in France at 19 (after living 10 years abroad), and that just going for the big dreams even when you’re laughed out of the room means you’re on the right track 💜. Thank you for always teaching us to see the best in people and in life. You are extraordinary. 🌎

Spending the past two weeks meeting with investors across Rio and São Paulo has been incredibly energizing. 🇧🇷🌴

It’s also reinforced a core truth: everything is connected. We can’t solve massive global challenges by investing in silos. Water, agriculture, energy, infrastructure—these sectors rise and fall together.

To close the $5 trillion annual financing gap for solutions, we have to shift toward systemic investing across private markets. And just as importantly? We need to make innovative finance more visible and understandable across media and entertainment. 💡

Excited to speak at Foundation House’s Catalytic Capital Forum next week with Kyle McEneaney (The Schmidt Family Foundation) and Stacey Faella (Woodcock Foundation).

At a time when the world faces a $5T annual financing gap, foundations have a unique opportunity to activate more capital through mission-aligned investments—and help scale the solutions driving resilience, decarbonization, and economic mobility.

I’ll share lessons from my time co-building WaterEquity, and how catalytic capital, including investments from foundations, helped attract $100M+ in additional capital from impact & institutional investors. Those insights are now shaping our work at LEBEC and at our investment manager—LEBEC Capital Partners.

Looking forward to a powerful conversation with this community.
