In the beginning it was just an idea, a hobby, a dream of a different future; a future where there are opportunities for the founders to do what they always wanted to do: music. In 2002, he was introduced by a good friend, Saeed Kalhor, to FL Studio. Later in 2004 Cyrus Sarrafha. joined in. At this point the project was moving forward under the title PWT (Poison Water of Tooth). This project, alth

Monday October 20, 10:00PM NYC, w Cyrus: Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble—SRV, Texas’s actual lone star, wouldn’t you agree? What he does with his guitar is quite untouchable; and that is coming from someone who doesn’t often listen to blues. I always make exceptions for Stevie along with few other blues artists such as BB King, Koko Taylor, Muddy Waters, Albert King and John Lee Ho**er. This time around, words take a step back to make more room for the instruments. The task in hand is to dive into the technicalities of what Stevie achieves when playing his guitar.

at , Monday September 22, 10:00pm NYC. Tune in at www.theLotRadio.com. On an early Friday morning in the summer of 1998, I turned on the TV in our living room in Tehran. It was a clear and sunny day: perfect weather to catch a frequency here and there using a satellite dish. I tuned into a French TV channel called Mezzo. The video clip for a freshly released jazz album was on. It was then and there when I was exposed to Nils Petter Molvaer’s ‘Song of Sand’ for the first time. I have not stopped listening to Nils’s music to this very day. Now, almost thirty years later, Nils has released that very album, Khmer, this time recorded live in Bergen. Head to his Bandcamp or website and start digging into the career of one of the pivotal modern jazz musicians of our era. www.nilspettermolvaer.com

w Cyrus: David Cousins & Strawbs_ tonight at 10pm EST on www.theLotRadio.com
Dave passed away earlier this year in July. ’The Strawberry Hill Boys’ was the name of the band he formed in 1964, then the name was shortened to ’the Strawbs’ in 1967, and the ’the’ was dropped in 1969. Strawbs is not a full-on Prog Rock band, in my opinion. Their music is rooted in bluegrass and folklore. Even the one album which features Rick Wakeman (later of ‘Yes’ fame, a pillar of Prog Rock) is arranged leaning further toward Folk Rock than Progressive Rock. However—and this is the interesting part for me personally—as the years passed by, David’s writing style became more Prog-oriented, both lyrically and musically. This is not to say that the early albums are going to be ignored. On the contrary, some of Dave's most politically-charged and thought-provoking lyrics are from his early years; a stand-out example would be the song ’New World’ from the band’s 1972 album, Grave New World, where he tells the tales of the families conflicted and divided by the Troubles in Northern Ireland. This particular song also features a prominent mellotron track. So you could draw a continuous -yet not straight- line of Prog Rock importance, from the early 1970s right to 2023 where the band's last album was released.
