Come see the Off-Broadway show the critics are raving about.
Written and performed by Todd Almond (Girl from the North Country, Gossip Girl) and directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer (Good Night, and Good Luck; The Band’s Visit), I’m Almost There is a rueful, hilarious, and poignant modern love story in song about a man crossing a sea of doubts to find happiness... and good coffee. Initially developed by the award-winning producers of Fleabag and Baby Reindeer, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe hit comes to BAM for a three-week run ahead of a major US tour.
Joined onstage by musicians Erin Hill (harp/vocals) and Noah Max Amick (bass), Almond weaves his deeply personal, universally relatable songs into a luminous, lyrical confession about fear, longing, and the courage it takes to let love in. It’s intimate yet epic, and laugh-out-loud funny in all the places it hurts most.

Looking back at this season, starting with January's wildest ride: Age of Content. This riotous, kinesthetic performance from the French multidisciplinary collective (LA)HORDE and Ballet national de Marseille explored how identity is fractured in the digital age, asking what remains singular about the living, breathing body.

BAM mourns the loss of Danny Simmons—artist, philanthropist, advocate, and cherished member of the BAM family.
As a longtime BAM Trustee, Danny brought extraordinary generosity, wisdom, and vision to our institution. He believed deeply in the power of the arts to build community, create opportunity, and spark dialogue. Throughout his years with BAM, he championed artists across disciplines and helped shape programs that celebrated Brooklyn’s creative spirit and the richness of Black culture.
Danny curated Brooklyn Next Art: The Jazz Photographs of Fran Kaufman, bringing the work of the acclaimed jazz photographer to BAM audiences and highlighting the profound connections between visual art and music. He also lent his vision and leadership to programs including Def Poetry Plugged In, Brooklyn Literary Mashup, and the photography exhibition, Black Music: From Bebop to Hip-Hop—events that embodied his commitment to artistic excellence, cultural exchange, and community engagement.
Beyond BAM, Danny devoted his life to expanding access to the arts through mentorship, advocacy, and the co-founding of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.
We are deeply grateful for his friendship, guidance, and unwavering belief in the power of art to bring people together.
Rest in power, Danny.

James Blood Ulmer has passed away.
A legendary artist at the forefront of avant-garde funk, jazz, blues, and more, James was a renowned singer and electric guitarist. He graced our stage twice, alongside in 2022 for “Ornette Coleman: The Shape of Jazz to Come,” and back in 2005 for BAM Rhythm & Blues Festival at MetroTech.
He will be deeply missed.

Think back on this year at BAM. Maybe it was a free concert. Maybe it was watching Hamlet unfold on stage, or losing yourself in Cancionera. Maybe it was something smaller—a moment that just stuck with you.
If something here moved you in 2025-2026, now's the time to give something back. Funding for arts organizations keeps shrinking, but BAM keeps showing up—for Brooklyn, for artists, for you.
Link in bio. Every gift counts. :hearts:
🎙️ Meet the team behind Behind the Curtain—BAM Education's podcast made entirely by high school students.
These students learned it all from scratch: recording and editing audio, operating equipment, conducting interviews, and shaping a podcast's narrative arc from start to finish. The result? A show built by young people, in their own voices, on their own terms.
