🗣️ let’s talk about it… recently received notice of a City proposal to covert the hotel opened last year at 169 Empire Boulevard near Bedford Avenue into a temporary shelter for 140 single adult men, as part of an effort to relocate assessment beds connected to the Bellevue/30th Street intake facility. Our Assemblymember Brian Cunningham has already come out in opposition, citing concerns about transparency, planning, and community impact. Neighbors are having a meeting tonight up on Sullivan Place and are claiming the City is not complying with the Fair Share requirement, which former City Comptroller Brad Lander also pointed out in a 2023 report. Your thoughts?

Community Cleanup PLG is hosting its first annual Trash-a-Thon on Sunday, April 19, from 8 AM to 9 PM. The goal is to clean every block of Prospect Lefferts Gardens in a single day with 100+ volunteers working in flexible hourlong shifts. Two carts will start from opposite ends of the neighborhood -- Flatbush & Clarkson and New York Ave & Empire -- and work block by block toward each other.

Since 2023, their volunteers have collected over 3,000 lbs of trash from PLG streets every weekend. All supplies are provided, no experience is necessary, and volunteers can sign up for a single hourlong shift or as many shifts as they'd like.

Get out there, neighbors!
