We are deeply saddened by the loss of the legendary Abdullah Ibrahim, South Africa’s most distinguished pianist and a world-respected master musician.
Born in 1934 in Cape Town, Dollar Brand, as he became known, was exposed to a melting pot of cultural influences. Out of this blend of the secular and religious, the traditional and the modern, Abdullah Ibrahim’s distinctive sound and musical vocabulary was born.
Most recently, we had the great pleasure of celebrating Abdullah's 90th birthday performance with him and our friends at 92NY.
He will be missed by so many who loved him and were inspired by his music and his irrepressible spirit. Rest in power, maestro 💔

Blending Anatolian folk with psychedelia, pop, and soul, this internationally acclaimed group has captivated audiences across Europe since its debut in 2014. Fronted by Hamburg-born singer Derya Yıldırım, who plays the bağlama (a traditional Turkish lute) and sings exclusively in Turkish, putting a modern spin on Anatolian folk icons like Selda Bağcan and Barış Manço.
