The Spook Who Sat by the Door, directed by Ivan Dixon in 1973, was so revolutionary that it was pulled from theaters three days before it opened.
I did a deep dive into this film back in 2011 or 2012 while hosting Black Classic Film Series and believe it is a very important part of film history and black storytelling that should not be missed.
I’ve got my ticket for the world premiere of the 4k restoration this Friday, 8/16 at BAM and would love to see this with my fellow cinephiles.

We are only 17 days out from National Buffalo Soldier Day and our 2nd annual event celebration!! We are excited to announce that the New York Small Business Development Center at the New York City College of Technology and MJHS Health System will be tabling at our event!!
