If you're out in these Brooklyn streets today, stop by the MoCADA Ubuntu Botanical garden to see our new 30ft+ mural by Haitian-American artist Francks F. Deceus (). 🇭🇹
Entitled, "Carib-Import #1," the piece pays homage to the immigrant experience in America. Deceus' work is a timely representation of Black bodies in transit, at a time when xenophobia and anti-immigrant sentiments are on the rise. By centering this mural, MoCADA aims to open dialogue about immigration, uplift the contributions of Black immigrants to society, while provoking community action that supports rather than disrupts their pathway to citizenship.
The mural is located at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street, at the corner of Fort Greene Place in Fort Greene Brooklyn. Tag us when you see it!

💐❤️🖤💚 Happy Mother's Day to MoCADA founder Laurie Cumbo ()!
To celebrate, we're joining her as she moderates a meaningful conversation with the Director of Cultural Affairs for the San Francisco Arts Commission, Ralph Re*****on (), about his new book, Penetrating Whiteness.
At a time when America faces escalating racial tensions, the re-emergence of white nationalist movements, and growing threats to democracy, Ralph Re*****on's Penetrating Whiteness is an urgently needed clarion call. His essays, which are a powerful and timely collection of piercing insights into the realities of racism, sexism, and homophobia in our country, boldly confront the uncomfortable truths about the persisting toxicity of white supremacy and systemic discrimination.
Join the conversation. Pull up!
