As we continue to spotlight our grantees, learn more about two organizations that have been raising awareness via community events. From a Maternal Health Fair and a four-week Lecture Series to a Prematurity Awareness event and a Haitian Women Parents Café, grantees and are bringing resources and community to the parents of Brooklyn.

Next in our series, we’re featuring Strong Communities Fund Maternal Health Program grantees .inc and Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic. Their work includes community advocacy, outreach, and helping pregnant women access to care and insurance.

We launched our Strong Communities Fund Maternal Health Program over a year ago, and this Black Maternal Health Week we’re sharing the incredible work of our maternal health program grantees! Little Essentials, Seeds in the Middle, Expecting Relief are three grantees who’s work provided parents with goods and essential resources:
🍼 500+ parents received over 4,000 lbs of free produce, diapers & baby supplies
📦 288 mothers receive monthly essential products and pre-/post-natal resources

Black Maternal Health Week starts this Saturday, and this year we’re rolling out a new, Brooklyn-specific resource.
The Brooklyn Maternal Health Directory is a free, comprehensive guide connecting families to prenatal care, doulas, postpartum support, mental health services, housing assistance, nutrition, and more. Many thanks to Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic, who we partnered with to create this guide.

Last week 11 telehealth ambassador trainees gathered at BCC’s headquarters. The session covered telehealth 101 and advocacy, directory and resource navigation, and “role play” as both clients and ambassadors. The trainees represent key community-based organizations in Brooklyn - Caribbean Women’s Health Associate, and .
The training is part of BCC’s Safe Access initiative, which supports community members interested in accessing telehealth.
