PSA: FIREWORKS STANDS ARE NOW OPEN - TIME TO PREPARE YOUR DOG(S)!!

This year will likely see higher numbers of fireworks being detonated due to the America 250 celebrations. But our fur kids will not be celebrating. More dogs go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year. Municipal shelters know this, and due to the expectation of being inundated with intake on July 5th, Shelters often euthanize greater numbers of dogs on the days leading up to the 4th to make space. Sad fact but true.

Make preparations for your dog(s) NOW:

👉 Update their microchips and tags with your current phone number, address, etc. If you need a new tag, We mail out free tags to ok residents go to www.tagok.org You can also get them at Walmart and Petsmart.
👉 Do a fence check: make sure latches close properly, look for weak boards or bent wire that a dog could push through.
👉 Get anxiety meds from vet well in advance of the 4th as fireworks will be going on days before it and days after it. Be well stocked.
👉Consider purchasing ambient nose machines, dog ear muffs, chew toys, thunder shirts or whatever helps your dog NOW so that you'll have them on hand.
👉 Make sure they've had good exercise early in the day on the 4th and make sure they are inside, away from the loud noise and flashes, etc by the time night falls.

Great message OK Save A Dog Society! Sharing…

Now is the time to prepare! If your needs a bath give it now, not on the 3rd (and forget to replace the collar) a very common excuse. Get meds if needed now. Fix your fence.. Best of all do not let the dog out alone, go with it for the 3rd and 4th at least. If I had a $ for every dog/cat lost over this holiday I would be one rich B... Take care of your animals people...

Love ‘em & Tag ‘em All 💟
Does your working dog, support dog or kitchen monitor need a new 🆔 name tag? We’ve got you at TAGOK.org

Dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. Some guide people through the world. Some guard farms and livestock. Some help law enforcement protect communities. And then there are the dogs whose greatest contribution is enthusiastically existing and hoping somebody drops a piece of cheese.

The funny thing is that every role matters. Working dogs perform incredible tasks that save lives and protect people. Meanwhile, the cheese-loving professional brings smiles, laughter, and emotional support simply by being adorable.

At the end of the day, every dog is important in their own way. Even if their résumé mostly consists of snack appreciation. 🧀🐾
