This past weekend reminded me why I love creating. At , I had the chance to lock in with , , , and —four people whose energy filled the room with possibility. Together we got into a space where ideas flowed, where every note carried pieces of each of us, and where collaboration felt like family.

It’s rare to find moments that feel both grounding and electric at the same time, but that’s exactly what this session was. I’m grateful for the trust, the creativity, and the reminder that when we come together, the music becomes bigger than any one of us. Excited to see where this journey takes us next.

We did it!! 🏡✨ One week ago today .13ird and I officially bought our first home—a beautiful 1920s American Craftsman bungalow!

This moment feels surreal. Growing up on the Southside/West End of Providence, there were winters when we went without heat. To be here now, standing in a home that’s ours, is overwhelming in the best way.

It wasn’t easy to get here. We sacrificed a lot of days and nights out, picked up side gigs, and budgeted heavily just to make this dream possible. There were times it felt like it might not happen, but little by little, we pushed through, and now we’re standing inside the house we worked so hard for.

Our dogs have been loving it just as much as we are. For the first time in 3 years, they’ve been able to run around off-leash in their own yard. Watching them explore was amazing, but what really got me was Juno, our middle pup, whining out of pure happiness. It felt like even she knew how big this moment was for us.

We couldn’t have done any of this without our realtor and now good friend, Sebastian Casas (), as well as our amazing broker, Dany Ortiz(). They guided us through every twist and turn, answered every question, and made the whole process so much smoother than we imagined. If you’re looking to buy a home, we’d 100% recommend them—they’ll take care of you the way they took care of us.

This house is proof of all the sacrifices, the late nights, the side hustles, and the patience it took to get here. And now it’s ours.

I just want to start off by thanking everyone who has donated so far! We’re almost at 10% off our goal raised in only two days and it feels amazing to see how much our friends and family genuinely care about Asce’s wellbeing. Its overwhelming. Please continue to share, like, and comment so that we can reach our goal and help baby Asce walk again!

If you haven’t donated yet but would like to, You can click the following donation Link: https://gofund.me/47f73a85

Now on to the update! Yesterday I called out of work and took baby boy Asce to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston to get a second opinion on his condition and visit a neurologist who could potentially help diagnose him. Asce was very brave, and met so many amazing staff who gave him great care and plenty of petting.

The neurologist we met there believes that because of his age and range of movement, Asce might have contracted a Bacterial infection that is affecting his motor functions in his rear legs. A few hours, and a thousand dollars later, we were able to test him for this infection and are now awaiting the results.

If the results come back positive for infection, that means Asce won’t need an MRI or surgery, just extensive physical therapy and antibiotic medication. We won’t know the results for a few business days (early next week), but we’re hopeful that this is the case so that we can start him on the path to walking again!

In the meantime, baby boy Asce is on several new antibiotics and pain medicine to help him rest and recover.

I cannot stress how important and impactful your donations have been throughout these past few days, because without them we would not have been able to afford this last hospital visit.

Our fingers are crossed that he’ll be up and running around annoying his sisters real soon! Please continue to share with your friends and family so we can continue to give Asce a fighting chance.

Thank you so much everyone!
-Saulo and Janay

Reminiscing about my time in Mali. The vibrant colors, friendly faces, and healing energy. Being in the motherland helped me recenter and inspired me to create for myself once again, and I’ll never take that for granted.
I built lasting relationships that I will never take for granted. I had my first ancestral experience here - being able to walk on every continent where my ancestors were enslaved as a free man. I experienced true black joy.
Take me back to afternoon naps on rooftop hammocks, and waking up to drumming every morning. I’ll forever be grateful for this experience.
Shout out to and for making this happen. Most importantly, shoutout yo for building a space where people can come and learn Malian Arts and Culture. I’ll never forget this experience, and I will definitely find my way back soon.If you’re interested in how you can have your own experience like this, visit the yeredon page and reach out!

This weeks Final Development!

At the beginning of this year I told myself I would submit an application to everything my imposter syndrome had convinced me I couldn’t attain. I’m so happy I stopped listening to that little voice in my head.

I’m proud to announce that I was selected as a RISCA Folk Arts Fellow for my work as a Hip Hop educator! Only two artists are selected every award cycle, and I was one of them. The fellowship offers me funding to purchase equipment and further my career as an artist.

I’m also proud to announce that I was awarded a Make Art Grant! This grant will be used to Record and release a 5 track EP with .park.band.pvd titled ‘Here to Stay.’ This EP will feature collaborations with talented artists such as .escobarjazz , , .13ird , , , and more! Be on the look out for the ‘Here to Stay.’ EP, set to release in early 2025.

2024 is a year for for professional growth, exploration, and art-making. Thank y’all for being part of this journey with me!
