Why do I love the Elk's?

Here is just one of many reasons -

What We Do
The Order spends more than $80,000,000 every year for benevolent, educational and patriotic community-minded programs in such fields as benefitting special needs children, sponsoring Elks National Foundation scholarships, scouting, athletic teams, veterans' works, a national "Hoop Shoot" free-throw contest involving more than 3 million children, physical and occupational therapy programs and patriotic programs.

The youth of our country have always been important to the Order. It is for this reason the Elks Drug Awareness Education Program was launched to warn primary grade students and their parents of the dangers in drug use. Additionally, every lodge observes June 14th as Flag Day, a tradition which the Elks began in 1907 and was later adopted by the Congress as an official observance.

Today, Ward 4 City Council Member Adam Cushing advised the City that he has moved and is no longer residing in Brighton. The City Charter requires that City Council members reside in the City of Brighton and, therefore, the Ward 4 seat is vacated. Cushing began his term on City Council in January 2020 and is the current Mayor Pro Tem.

The City Council will select a new Mayor Pro Tem and will discuss next steps for the vacant Ward 4 council seat at the next meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Brighton Police Make Arrest in Homicide at Ken Mitchell Park

The Brighton Police Department (BPD) announce the arrest of a 17-year-old male in the murder of Josiah Gonzales. On 7/14/2022, Brighton Police Detective arrested the alleged shooter at his family’s home in Commerce City, CO. BPD detectives have been working non-stop since Josiah’s death sorting through evidence, interviewing witnesses, and tracking down leads.

The suspect will be held at the Prairie Vista Juvenile Detention Center in Brighton. The case will be presented to the district attorney’s office later this week for the filing of formal charges. Under Colorado laws, the arrest and filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s). A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Yep!

Temps in the nineties have returned - Remember that it's vital to not leave your child unattended in a car. Under such conditions, the temperature inside a car could quickly rise to dangerous levels. Look in the back seat twice - it could save a life.
