something about autumn... especially here in Michigan, nothing beats the beautiful colors and the immense beauty before the big freeze comes. It was so great to be able to get a few sessions with the beautiful colors this year!

Twenty-four years ago, there we were in an apartment: myself, the DH, a 4 yr old, a 3 yr old, and a dog. Oh, and two kittens who were NEVER supposed to enter the apartment to begin with, but when you take the dog to the vet and see them abandoned, well, you bring them home and deal with your DH later.
We were in an apartment because our old house sold and our new house wasn't ready. They told us it would be by Christmas, but alas, Christmas was upon us and it wasn't quite done. All of our Christmas decorations were in storage, so the children and I set about making decorations.
This star is one of them.
It was poorly cut out of cardboard (listen, I do not excel at crafts) covered in tin foil, slathered in glue, and sprinkled with way more glitter necessary by two sets of the cutest hands God ever made.
It has been on our tree ever since...and considering the amount of glitter that comes off the thing every year, I'm surprised there's any left.
I took it out this weekend to put atop the tree and, as I do every year, started feeling all the feels.
It's a stupid-glitter covered cardboard star but if there was ever a fire, THIS is what I'm taking with me.
It is a reminder in a world gone mad that what we hold dear is still dear..
that the good parts of Life are still the good parts of Life
And that when you look for happiness, you'll find it...
just as sure as I'll find glitter throughout my house until January.
