The City of Bridgeport has officially adopted the 2021 International Building Codes (IBC) and the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC).

✅ These updated codes will take effect January 1, 2026.

✅ Any projects submitted before December 31, 2025 will continue to follow our current codes: the 2012 IBC and the 2011 NEC.

We encourage contractors, developers, and property owners to review these updates and prepare for the upcoming changes.
