We’ve been posting a lot of BMW content lately. Here’s a splash of orange to break it up.

The is this KTM 790 adventure that’s been hanging around the shop and we’re taking up to the northeast BDR next week.

Bonus: did you know we have a private parking lot for customers? It’s gravel, but don’t be afraid. It holds kickstand well. We can handle a few cars too, otherwise bring quarters for meters out front.

And a service reminder: next week we are *not* taking regular appointments Tuesday or Wednesday, 5/12-13. Back open for regular showroom hours Thursday-Saturday 11-5. ✌️

The r90s is one of the most iconic motorcycles ever made. And this Saturday Max BMW is hosting an “Open Haus” at its New Milford CT location, where *these* three original Butler & Smith race bikes will be on display as part of the 50th anniversary commemoration of BMW winning the inaugural Superbike Championship in 1976.

The event is free but registration is requested via the website. Food trucks and beverages will be on site.

It should be a brilliant spring Saturday for a ride. Anyone who wants to join on a scenic route up from our shop in Bridgeport is welcome to join - we are opening early at 9 for coffee and leaving for Max around 10. All bikes welcome — come see what these beautiful old Beemers are all about!

New and unexpected favorite piece from : meet the new Borrego jacket.

This is a full-featured jacket that flies under the radar, but is well suited to everything from trail use, to touring, to around-town riding

Designed with a classic waxed-canvas look, the Borrego features a detachable Drystar liner that can be worn inside as a windproof layer, or over the top of the jacket for protection against the rain. Or roll the liner up and stow it in a tank bag or in the jacket’s own rear rabbit pocket when not needed.

Showing rare restraint, the designers at Alpinestars didn’t plaster logos all over this jacket. Instead there’s a small badge on the chest, and some embroidering on the back shoulder that we could do without, but can forgive, too—because this is a classy, well cut jacket that we can’t help but like.

Long mesh-backed zippers running the length of the inner arms, along with exhaust vents at the torso, mean this jacket will work well in warm weather.

Comfortable, flexible, and protective with an AA rating, the Borrego comes with anatomically correct left- and right-specific CE Level 2 Nucleon PLASMA PRO shoulder and elbow armor, which offer good mobility without skimping on protection.

Motorcycle specific earplugs… How do they work? We strongly recommend anyone who rides a motorcycle use earplugs while they do so. Specifically, filtered earplugs, which let you tune out road noise while still being able to hear your bike and/or communication system.

Specifically, we recommend the Moto earplugs from Earpeace.

Also, to note there are some Internet sensation products that we’ve bought and tried and do not recommend.

The Shoei RF-1400 needs little introduction. It’s hands-down, the class leading street helmet, and equipped with a transition shield and a pinlock insert it is hard to beat.

Think you’re an “Arai head?” You very well may be. Cool we stock them all, but we are also an authorized personal fit shop for Shoei. Call or come in for a full PFS fitting. Square pegs in round holes are no problem, which opens Shoei’s formidable helmet lineup to a broader audience.

But whatever helmet you wear, we still recommend quality, filtered earplugs, like the ones from Earpeace seen hanging off Alex’s belt. They come with multiple sizes and filters (3/for when you lose one) - and a slick case.
