⚠️ Not All Needlework Framing Is Created Equal ⚠️

This is an example of what can happen when needlework is framed improperly.

The fabric was attached with staples and adhesive, causing damage to the textile and making future conservation difficult. Needlework should never be permanently glued or stapled in a way that compromises the fabric.

At Artworks, we use conservation-minded techniques designed to:
✔ Preserve the integrity of the stitching
✔ Avoid permanent damage to the fabric
✔ Allow for future removal if needed
✔ Keep your treasured heirlooms looking their best for generations

Whether it’s cross-stitch, embroidery, crewel work, or samplers, proper framing matters.

The mat became part of the art on this one. 🦋
Instead of a traditional mat, we added a close-up image of moth wings — giving the piece texture, color, and movement that makes the entire frame feel immersive and collected from nature itself.

Custom framing is all about finding creative ways to make artwork feel even more special and one-of-a-kind. This may be one of our favorite mat designs yet.
