Join us tomorrow evening at our free, open to the community, Yom HaZikaron - Yom Ha'Atzmaut event tomorrow beginning at 7:00 pm at Or Hadash.
This event will take us from the solemn Yom HaZikaron, Israel's national memorial day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror attacks, to the celebratory Yom Ha'Atzmaut commemorating the Israeli Declaration of Independence on May 14, 1948.
The program will feature first-hand accounts of the October 7th attacks from two Israeli heroes, a light BBQ dinner hosted by Or Hadash, and a Yom HaZikaron observance followed by a Yom Ha'Atzmaut celebration which includes a silent disco, Israeli food, Israeli dancing, and a roundtable discussion with Israeli heroes. It is an evening not to be missed!
Dinner is sold out!
RSVP is required. https://shalomct.salsalabs.org/CelebrateIsrael051424/index.html

We are guided by our Jewish values to ‘repair the world’ (tikkun olam) and to fight injustice wherever we see it. We advocate for our vulnerable and care for those in need.

As we begin Passover and we gather together with our families tonight, we say the repeated phrase “Next Year in Jerusalem.” Now, and in every generation, we unequivocally support Israel and its wellbeing. Jewish Federation works to protect Israel through service missions, fundraising, and spreading awareness so that it can safely exist for generations to come.

Webinar Sunday morning --Iran Attacks Israel
Friends:
We are all following with the greatest alarm the events in Israel this evening as Israel has come under attack by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) launched from Iran and missiles from Iran and Hezbollah.
We know you join with us in sending our total and complete support to all our brothers and sisters in Israel, especially the Israeli Defense Forces who are on the front lines. We also express our gratitude to the American armed forces and other allies who are helping defend our beloved State of Israel.
We have been in touch with all our security partners and we will continue to monitor the situation at home. We know that we are all operating at the highest level of vigilance.
Secure Community Network has released a statement and CSI New York has urged the community to "stay calm and carry on,".
We are aware of several Federations with lay leaders and staff in Israel. If you need anything in Israel, please contact Dani Wassner. Our Israel staff will mobilize to be of assistance.
We will offer a special briefing tomorrow, Sunday April 14th, at 10 am ET.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM JEWISH FEDERATIONS OF NORTH AMERICA
Jewish Federations are watching Iran's launch of an attack on Israel with extreme concern.
We are comforted by IDF statements that the situation is under control and that the Jewish state can defend itself against the attack; and also the strong words from the United States supporting Israel at this time.
We are monitoring the situation very closely and join in prayer for our brothers and sisters in Israel.

And that marks the end of a wonderful and incredibly meaningful trip to Israel! We rounded off the trip with brunch with Fairfield folks who made Aliyah, a recitation of the Shema on the bus in unison with people around the world, a visit to the Nova memorial festival, and a farewell dinner with all of our old and new friends.
