What a wonderful day of community, connection, and fun! 💙
A heartfelt thank you to Greens Farms Church for inviting us to be part of your Neighborhood Block Party! We loved engaging with children and adults through our interactive Memory Match games. Participants worked together to build either a lunch bag, representing the meals we serve, or a hygiene bag filled with essentials like socks, soap, and combs. Once they completed all their matches, they were rewarded with some BRM bubbles! 🫧
It was amazing to see so many smiles while also raising awareness about the practical ways we serve our community every day.
We're grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful families and to share the day alongside the talented Pivot Ministries Choir and the Greens Farms Church Praise Team. Thank you for making this such a joyful event!

We are incredibly grateful to First County Bank for awarding Bridgeport Rescue Mission a $5,000 grant in support of our work!
Today, Jennifer, Regional Manager, and Benedict, Fairfield Branch Manager, visited the Mission to get a firsthand look at the life-changing work happening every day and personally present the award. We were honored to share how Bridgeport Rescue Mission serves our community through food assistance, shelter, addiction recovery, healthcare, and long-term life transformation.
Partnerships like these remind us that real change happens when a community comes together around a common purpose. We are deeply thankful for First County Bank’s investment in the people we serve and for their commitment to making a difference right here in our community.

What a beautiful Father’s Day celebration! 💙
Today, we honored the men in our Programs with an encouraging message from Mark Curtis, Vice President of our Board, thoughtful gifts, a special lunch, and a sweet ice cream social. Most importantly, we celebrated the strength, resilience, and hope we see in these men every single day.
At Bridgeport Rescue Mission, we believe every man has value, purpose, and the opportunity for a brighter future. Here’s to the fathers, mentors, and men who continue to persevere and inspire us. Happy Father’s Day! 🙌

Jack was a unique person. He was other-worldly in his kindness, lack of ego, selflessness and simpleness. As a young boy he never wanted anything (toys, clothes, gifts of any kind) because he thought it was unnecessary and he didn't really need anything anyway. He would say "I have enough mom". As early as fifth grade, he started giving his money away to the homeless as money had no value to him. He carried that selflessness into his career choices where every role helped others (the homeless, the drug addicted, the imprisoned, the mentally ill). At Bridgeport Rescue Mission, he drove the Mobile Food Kitchen into Bridgeport's neediest neighborhoods providing a meal, a conversation and most importantly hope. Jack was always the most comfortable being around those in need...they were his people.
His own mental health struggles began in college but even though he struggled himself he still stepped up to put others first. Kindness was Jack's superpower and legacy. We have heard countless stories of how he helped his friends go through very difficult family and life struggles. They said he was the one who cared, who listened, who saw them. This is Jack's way.
Since Jack passed Dec 9, 2024, we have done our best to carry on his legacy, all centering around kindness. At his elementary school, we started a Kindness Library and sent "Kindness is Everything" bracelets to all the students to teach them that Kindness is the most important trait. At his high school there is a Kindness Scholarship in his honor to the student who exemplifies kindness every day. At Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, there is a Kindness Fund where money will be used to lift someone's spirit in times of need.
At BRM, all of the donations at his Celebration of Life (almost $9,000) were provided to repair the Mobile Food Kitchen truck which was broken down and not in service. Additionally, annual funds are being provided to keep the truck maintained each year. Jack will be so proud the food truck will be in commission because of him.
It's been a very hard road for our family as we miss him so much every single day. But we are trying to live on and honor his message to "be kinder than necessary" which is very similar to BRM's mission of expanding hope and rebuilding lives.

For months, Assistant Pastor Joe from The Redeemed Christian Church of God Dominion Chapel shared that their congregation was collecting donations for Bridgeport Rescue Mission, but we never expected a FULL van overflowing with blessings. From brand-new Bibles and hygiene essentials to pantry staples and canned goods, their generosity will directly support the men, women, and families we serve every day. We are deeply grateful to Lead Pastors Nathaniel and Jumoke Saingbe and the entire Dominion Chapel family for their kindness, partnership, and shared commitment to serving our community with love, dignity, and hope. ❤️
