What I’ve learned about grief is that it looks different for every person and every loss. It’s something you can try to explain, but no one will ever fully understand exactly what you’re feeling—and that’s okay.

Some people will show up for you in ways you never expected, offering patience, kindness, and space to heal. Others may continue on with their lives, not realizing how deeply grief can affect your mental health, expecting you to just keep going without pause or grace.

What has stood out to me most is that often, it’s the people you least expect who reach out with genuine support, compassion, and comfort.

As a small business owner, I can truly say I have some of the most amazing customers. Many of you have shown incredible patience and understanding during one of the hardest times in my life, allowing me the time and space to begin healing and slowly return to fulfilling orders. For that, I am endlessly grateful.

There have also been challenges—moments where understanding was lacking. But that’s part of why I started Swank Candles in the first place. I’ve always believed in being open about mental health, advocating for it, and creating a space where others feel safe to do the same.

To those who have supported me through this—thank you. You’ve given me the gift of time to grieve without added pressure, stress, or guilt. I am making progress, and I’m finding my way back, one step at a time.

I want to take a moment to share something from the heart.

If you currently have an open order with me, please know that I see it, I haven’t forgotten it, and I am working as quickly as I can to get everything completed and shipped.

The past several weeks have been incredibly difficult. In the weeks leading up to Emma’s passing, much of my time and energy was focused on trying to help her as her health continued to decline. I was doing everything I could to get her the care she needed and to be there for her. Since losing her, I’ve also been navigating a lot of grief and mental health challenges while trying to adjust to life without her.

Emma was more than just a dog; she was my constant companion and gave me unconditional love every single day. Losing her has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through.

To everyone who has supported my small business, sent kind messages, and shown patience during this time, I truly cannot thank you enough. Your compassion and understanding have meant more to me than I can put into words.

To anyone who has been waiting on an order, I am deeply sorry for the delay. Please know I am doing everything I can to catch up and fulfill each order as quickly as possible. Your support means the world to me, and I’m incredibly grateful for every one of you.
