What is a Plein Air Quick Draw?
A plein air quick draw is a timed art competition held at plein air festivals where artists create a finished piece of art in a short, set period — often 90 to 120 minutes — under real‑time outdoor conditions Outdoor Painter. It’s a high‑energy challenge that tests an artist’s ability to work quickly, make compositional decisions, and capture light, color, and mood in a limited time.
