In just a few hours, the 88th Legislative Session will begin and my time as State Representative for House District 13 will come to an end. The last four and a half years have been filled with many great memories and I will be forever grateful to you all for your support through it all. Together we passed nearly 30 pieces of legislation and I hope you are proud of all we were able to accomplish not only for our district, but the state as a whole.
My staff and I have made some great memories over the years and I wanted to share some of our favorite with you. We’ve worked hard, we’ve had fun, but most importantly we’ve had the distinct honor of working for the people of House District 13.

The next few days will bring winter weather to our state. Tomorrow, temperatures will begin to drop and will stay below freezing for over 36 hours. While we are not expected to have any precipitation/snow, the frigid temperatures could kill crops, plants, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
As always, preparation is key so make sure you and your family have the resources necessary during the next few days. Check in with your local authorities for region specific information and remember to protect the four P’s; people, plants, pipes, and pets.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the House floor! The 23 foot tree is up for the holiday season and today, our district ornaments went up. This year, our district ornament was done in coordination with the Hallet Oak Gallery in Hallettsville. The gallery had an artist from our community paint the ornament which represents House District 13. On one side, you see the bluebonnets that bloom in the spring and bring visitors from near and far to take in their beauty. We also see a longhorn to represent the livestock that is seen all through out HD 13 and is representative of the hardworking farming/ranching families in our district. The tree will be on display until January 2nd.
