I have tears in my eyes as I type this, because no words can fully express the emotions I feel for what this year has brought to my career—but I will try my best.

When I started school for this career, it was because I needed an escape, and ultimately an easier way to get through college after not being able to sit in a classroom just one week after my dad passed away. Little did I know I would end up here, seeing such a beautiful & positive outcome from such a horrific time.

This career, especially in 2025, has taught me more than I think I can fully put into words. For those who believe it’s just “playing with hair all day,” it’s not. It’s so much more. It’s my income, my escape, my friendships, and a part of my ministry. This “silly” job has given me wisdom, patience, self-discovery, and confidence.

Some have asked me this year what the toughest part of my job is. My answer is always this: “What I go through stops at the door, yet somehow follows me out”. No matter how heavy my personal life feels outside the salon or how I may feel physically, I show up with a smile for my clients. This job involves a lot of sharing—if you know what I mean. That sharing ranges from “I just lost my baby” to “I just got married.” No matter the news, but especially the hard moments, I carry them home with me. I never stop thinking about you or praying for you. That is the hardest part for me—along with navigating confidence in such a competitive career, praying through comparison, breaking chains in a drama filled industry, & learning through mistakes. It’s all difficult.

If you’ve ever been in my chair, thank you. I hope I’ve made even the smallest impact on you, because you have made such a profound impact on me. You have witnessed my grief, my vulnerability, my relationship flourishing, my deepest secrets, & my mistakes.
