Nobody takes a picture of the moment a parent couldn't get down there.
You know the moment. Halfway down, a hand on the knee, a quick calculation, and back up. So you talk to the top of your kid's head instead.
That's not a parent who doesn't care. That's a body nobody ever trained to get to the ground and back. Every gym sold effort. Nobody sold mechanics.
The second photo is the one that did get taken. We start at the feet and rebuild from there, so your body goes where your kids are.
Staying available is trainable. Text TRAIN to (657) 695-0749 or DM TRAIN here. I'll reply personally and set up your First Private Session.
Stay available.

Pickleball four days a week. A Saturday tee time. A 10K on the calendar. Open mat.
Your coach trains the skill. Nobody trains the body that has to perform it.
Saturday, Sept 26 at 9:15 AM, I'm taking eight active adults through 75 minutes built on the same principles and methods I use to train my pro and amateur athletes. Footwork, balance, rotation, usable strength. We test, train, and retest what changes. You'll feel it the next time you step on the court, the course, the field, or the mat.
$30. Eight spots. Text SPORT to (657) 695-0749 or DM SPORT here, and I'll confirm your spot personally.
Catherine didn’t start this journey seeing herself as a competitor.
She was already balancing work, two kids, and a full life.
And she was hesitant—not only about competing, but about some of the training that would eventually become normal for her.
That changed little by little.
She kept showing up.
She got stronger.
She became more capable.
And eventually, she stepped onto the mat and tested it.
Now she’s not just competing.
She’s placing at tournaments.
Her jiu-jitsu coaches develop the skills her sport demands. At ReCode, our job is to help develop the body that has to perform them—strength, control, rotation, balance, power, and the ability to handle force.
The podium is a result.
The part I respect most is everything that happened before it.
Catherine didn’t get more hours in the day than anyone else.
She made the hours she had count.
Share this and inspire another woman to keep stepping up and putting in the work.
Strength should make you more available to the people you love.
My son doesn’t care how much weight I can lift. He cares if Dad can get down on the floor, get back up, and stay in the game.
It’s not just about gym strength.
Stay strong for what matters.
The standard I expect from my son has to begin with me.
I can talk to him about discipline, consistency, and keeping commitments. But if he doesn’t see me live those things, the words don’t carry much weight.
My rule: Let him see the work.
The example is the lesson.
Fatherhood doesn’t change all at once. It happens little by little—the things they ask for, the ways they need you, and the moments you’re invited into.
At nine, the way my son needs me is already changing.
The moments look different now, but the reason I train hasn’t.
I know this season won’t last forever.
Until then, I want to be strong enough to stay in all of it.

At 51, she wrote:
"I've never felt better."
The photos will get attention.
Her words are the real story.
This is not about trying to get her twenties back. It is about building strength, confidence, and capacity in the body she has now.
She did the work.
Our job was to coach the process — give it structure, adjust it to the person in front of us, and keep building instead of chasing quick fixes.
No random punishment.
No one-size-fits-all plan.
No fake promise.
51 is not a deadline.
It is a place to build from.

Steve is 64.
I am not going to tell you age is just a number.
It is not.
Age is information. It changes how we coach, how we recover, and how we progress.
What it does not do is automatically lower the standard.
Steve is still training power, coordination, and the ability to produce force because those qualities matter outside the gym too.
The ball slam is not the point.
The coaching is.
Position.
Pressure.
Timing.
Intent.
Age changes the plan.
It does not decide that you are done.

Competition prep with a couple of our ReCode BJJ athletes.
There is a lot that goes into getting ready to step on the mat. It is not just the rounds in the gym. It is the extra work, the consistency, the discipline, and the willingness to sharpen every part of the body before competition day.
These guys have been putting in the work.
Excited to see them compete.

Max Flynn’s journey to the title is one of resilience. He relocated his life to the U.S., and he and his wife faced a lot of adversity on the way. Yet through all of it, he stayed dedicated to the process. Coming out on top as champion isn’t just about what happens in the cage—it’s about the grit behind the scenes. Max, your dedication through every challenge is what champions are made of. Now it’s time to rest up and move on to the next one!
