Salt and Light

James and I were having a conversation this morning, and we were talking about how so many people struggle with their identity. Who am I? Am I normal or am I different? Do I stand out in a crowd? And if I do, is that in a good way or a bad way? We simultaneously embrace labels that explain us, and then reject them because they constrain us. James has ADHD, and while aspects of that can make his life difficult, it also gives him a level of creativity and expression that is unmatched. I was homeschooled, and although we didn’t do labels, being homeschooled is a label in and of itself. In the quest to be normal and yet unique, I believe that there is a great peace and contentment in recognizing that we are a special creation of God, fashioned and formed exactly the way He meant us to be, with our gifts, our talents, and our personalities. We don’t need to compare ourselves with others. God doesn’t want us to be anyone else. He wants us to be ourselves, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He calls out those gifts He has given us to make us the best version of ourselves that we can be.

You put two neatly coiled cords in a gig bag, take them out to set up for a gig, and they are tangled. Every time. How????
