How do you know when you have finished remediation/clean-up?
• You must have completely fixed the water or moisture problem.
• Mold should be completely removed. Visible mold, mold-damaged materials, and moldy odors should not be present.
• If you have sampled for mold, the kinds and concentrations of mold and mold spores in the building should be similar to those found outside, once clean-up activities have been completed.
• You should re-inspect the site shortly after remediation, and it should show no new signs of water damage or mold growth.
• You should be able to continue to occupy the space without experiencing health complaints or physical symptoms.

Can air ducts become contaminated with mold?
Air duct systems can become contaminated with mold. Duct systems may be constructed of bare sheet metal, sheet metal with fibrous glass insulation on the exterior, or sheet metal with an internal fibrous glass liner, or they may be made entirely of fibrous glass. Bare sheet metal systems and sheet metal with exterior fibrous glass insulation can be cleaned and disinfected. Ductwork made of sheet metal with an internal fibrous glass liner or made entirely of fibrous glass if water damaged, will often need to be removed and discarded.
