Most people spent Mother’s Day surrounded by their moms. I spent it watching Abbey carry a kind of grief most people will never understand.

There’s a side of Abbey that the world doesn’t always get to see, the little girl inside her who still aches for a mother that’s no longer here. The little girl who used to run into her mom’s arms after Head Start. The one who still feels that deep, hollow pain of not being seen, not being chosen, not being protected.

But this isn’t just a post about loss. It’s about strength. Because I’ve also seen Abbey hold both love and pain in the same breath. I’ve seen her raise our son with a kind of fierce, selfless love that stops me in my tracks.

This Mother’s Day, she felt it all. The heartbreak. The resentment. The sadness. The love. The ache of what should’ve been. And still, still, she showed up. She showed up for me. For our son. For our life.

She’s not just my business partner or my best friend. She’s not just the mother of our boy. She is a force. A survivor. The strongest woman I know.
