We use a Registered South Poll bull as the herd sire on commercial Black Angus cross cows in our breeding program. South Poll is a composite breed comprised of Hereford, Red Angus, Barzona, and Senepol. June Bug and Llama say it's cold!! Brrrr! ❄☃️Joy, the Oberhasli, wants to talk about her wishes. Said she wants alfalfa! Herca said she's thankful for the delicious hay to keep her rumen going to heat her body in order to stay warm. Liberty and Crescent, our TWHs, aren't crazy about being stalled in the barn during the freeze, and this new baby goat is thankful she has a smart mom to put her out of the weather. Farmers have to keep putting out hay for animals no matter what. Farm Life...It's a GREAT life!

It's brutal out there friends by any standards but most especially Mississippi standards. We aren't accustomed to days in a row of freezing temps which poses serious problems and difficulties in watering livestock. Thankfully, we are in good shape with hay and rye grass to keep those rumens active. Be sure to thank a Mississippi farmer when you can! No days off. Gotta' keep those calves growing and momma cows nourished. 😊🐄
BREAKING NEWS: There will be NO farms closed due to the extreme cold. Farmers will be out in the cold and blowing wind tending their livestock. They will be praying for machinery to work, fences to stay put and that the axe doesn’t break when opening up water tanks. If you know or love a FARMER tell them thanks.
